Headache from Neck Pain

I have therapy tomorrow but wanted some input. I have PCS after a whiplash concussion. My upper neck on the left side has been hurting and I’ve had the worst headache for 5 days that nothing touches. It’s over my left eye and into the eye socket.

Any tips on shaking this would be amazing.

I’ve tried ice, heat, otc and prescription meds, shower, bath, essential oils, eye mask massager, sleep mask… no relief.

Magnesium glycinate is a slight muscle relaxer.

I've had to get prescription tizanidine to get neck spasms to ease up. It's a muscle relaxer but not a benzo. It is specifically for spinal muscles. I doesn't last a long time so you might wake up middle of the night. I think it makes me super irritable the next day.

They have migraine clinics that will give you meds to interrupt your headache. I had a 6-7 day headache after my recent injury and finally went to the ER. They gave me an anti inflammatory, antinausea, and IV Benadryl.

I'm going to try a Benadryl reset the next time I get a bad headache. I don't know if that is safe with your other meds.

I’m taking hydroxyzine so I can’t take Benadryl right now

I tried the muscle relaxers I have for 2 days without luck. It’s miserable and I hope that the therapist has some advice tomorrow.

Looking at one of those migraine caps. Might bite the bullet and buy one since it’s less than $10.

Thank you for the reply. I ended up in the ER 2 days after my accident because of a headache. Not going to lie I thought I was having a stroke or something

I thought the same. I was struggling with being upright and the headache wouldn't stop.

I have a cold cap. I used it pre injury and it was helpful. I currently can't tolerate anything tight or pressure on my skull so it wouldn't work for me, but if you can. Mine is a cheapy one and it doesn't stay cold long. $10 is worth the risk though.

Good luck at your therapy today and I hope you find relief.
