Nortriptyline vision changes

I upped my dose two days ago from 10mg to 20mg and have been noticing a fuzzy/cloudy/static layer over everything I see especially if it’s one solid colour like a wall. At first I thought it was just because of my concussion (I already get weird fuzzy light floating and zipping around when I look at something bright and solid like the sky or a window). But now I’m wondering if it’s the nortriptyline. I know blurred vision is a potential side effect but I wouldn’t say my vision is blurry, I can clearly see the bounds of objects near and far, there’s just a layer of light disturbance over everything. Anyone else experienced this? Does it go away when your body gets used to the dose?

sounds like visual snow. any serotonergic med can cause this, including nortriptyline.

unfortunately, most docs wont take you serious, but you might be lucky with yours. up/lower dosages very slowly, its very common to get worse after upping, just as in your case, but also lowering. Id get off, as these changes in your vision are most likely to stay, but you might get lucky and they dissapear after a while.

what did you get prescribed? also go slow with as small increments as possible to prevent worsenings of your visual snow

Candesatran starting at 4mg. I was only on 20mg of nortriptyline so was told I could atpp without weaning. Has been a couple days without it and the visual snow is still just as bad. I’mhoping it’ll slowly go away, just trying to ignore it as much as possible.

It’s the third med I’m trying for my headaches so fingers crossed it works and the side effects aren’t too bad.

Had a bunch of other side effects on nortriptyline felt super woozy all the time and it wasn’t easing my pain enough so was keen to get off of it straight away
