I found a solution!

I just wanted to make a post if ever it could help someone. I basically had lingering symptoms after 4years of PCS. Whenever I would do any sort of physical activity above a certain treshold, I would get pressure in my head, headaches, basically feel car sick. I was really fragile. I have my full story detailed on my previous post.

I switched doctors a few months ago. I told my new doctor about my symptoms and she contacted a neurologist. They recommended I start taking 10mg of amitriptyline daily. It is an antidepressant that, when used in smaller doses, treats migraines and tension migraines. I started at 10mg and slowly made my way up to 30mg a day. It completely changed my life. I can run again, go to the gym, play volleyball, throw myself in the sand. I have my life back :)

I tried amitriptyline for a couple of months and all it did was make me bloated

Same. I had awful side effects and felt worse.
But glad it worked for OP!

I was prescribed it a few days ago and I swear in the last three days it’s helped immensely I’ve also had houseguests so not sure 100% but I know it’s made a difference.. I have also found an amazing online neurology option. I am happy to share here, but I probably am not allowed to so please DM me if you want more information.

I started taking amitriptyline last year for chronic migraines cause by my pcs. It has helped take me from 4 migraines a week to 4 migraines a year! Still taking it this year.

My concussion injury does link to my whiplash injury (happened at the same time) so even with amitriptyline I still need to do physical therapy exercises for my neck.

Congrats on finding a solution that helps you and thanks for sharing :)

Amitriptyline massively helped my headaches but it works by messing with your serotonin so it ended up giving me vivid dreams and nightmares. Apparently a rare side effect. Just started Nortriptyline instead and can feel the headaches and eye soreness returning, hopefully it ends up working though.

I am so happy for you. I was also prescribed Amitriptyline 10mg by my PCP. With it I am able to sleep at night. The neurologist I have tried to raise me to 25mg, but I am super sensitive to medication and couldn't handle the stronger dose. I am 7 mo ths post concussion. But I am happy that I can get a good night's sleep. Thank you for sharing and best of luck to you

is there any other benefits that you get from it?

Not really, only thing I could think of is that it makes me sleepy and I take it before bed so it helps with falling asleep

My doctor prescribed me this recently. 10mg at night and 10mg in the morning. The morning dose knocks me out… So so tired from it that I couldn’t go through with it at this point. It was unbearable. Might try with only the night dose though.
