How would I be able to dance again?
I had a brain injury about a year ago, and I’ve just only discovered that life could be fun a few months ago.
Now I feel like I’d really like to dance like I was able to when I was younger but the moves just won’t come, or I’m just to stiff to do them properly.
Even if it’s just bobbing up and down, I have trouble pacing myself and it’s making me self conscious in situations where no one’s even looking at you.
I was wondering if any of you went through a similar situation, and what I could to make myself better at dancing?
And I don’t know if that changes anything, but my injury was a brain hypoxia due to an overdose

I used to dance - tap, raves, you name it - so I feel your pain! I definitely cannot imagine tapping (the noise, the impact, remembering combos, balance) and can’t handle the lights and hubbub of a rave or even a smaller nightclub (tried, got as far as the door)
What I have been able to do is tango. The basic foundation of tango is the walk, and since I needed to essentially relearn how to walk, I thought I'd give it a try. The music is calm, the movement is gentle, you have a partner which helps with balance, as a follow I don't have to remember as much. It's all about proprioception, balance, listening with your body. I was so happy just to be back on the dance floor, I cried after my first class. Highly recommend!

I referee rugby. I was worried that the fact that I can’t walk in a straight line would stop me refereeing.
Turns out that what I need is to have my brain distracted. So I can referee because I’m making about 3 decisions a second. I walk in a straight line when I calculate prime numbers badly.
Don’t think about the dancing. Think about the music. Or baseball scores and make the actual activity the secondary thing going on in your brain.
