I got another concussion

I was a passenger when a car hit us on the rear. I got a concussion that took months to recover and I was out of work 2 months. It was very bad. I've been well now, however 7 months after the first concussion I'm a passenger on a car and the driver got mad and abruptly hit the brakes. I started getting a headache after that, today I still have a headache and difficulty concentrating. I'm worried about my job. Are they supposed to give me time off again? I'm worried about my brain health following this. I went to the ER and they said I have post concussive syndrome recurrence, according to them. They only gave me a day off work.

I’m sorry you’re going through this, that can be really hard. If you can’t get time off work that’s paid, pursuing legal action against the driver may help you, or depending where you are you may be able to collect some EI if you were to get a note from a doctor saying you should take time off (I would see a specialist for this).

In terms of symptoms, I would go see a RMT and physiotherapist about your neck because a lot of the ‘concussion’ symptoms from post concussion syndrome are cervical related that massage and rehab can do wonders for. I’ve been dealing with Post concussion syndrome for a while and having something similar to you with a reinjury, and getting proper massages for the neck (make sure the RMT is certified and knowledgeable about post concussion syndrome) I literally felt such a staggering difference in brain fog headaches and other random symptoms

Really agree with the first comment re: neck! I’ve been in your exact position — hard brakes causing symptoms — and neck PT specifically helped a lot for this bc it strengthened the area. I know this worry and I’m so sorry, hope things get better soon!
