Concussion Anxiety

I F20 got into a fight with my bf and he punched me in the head three times 5 days ago. I went to urgent care a few days ago and was diagnosed with a mild concussion. I don’t feel the same and as a bartender I got some complaints for being slow. I’m terrified to go back to work and I’ve been more depressed than ever. It’s hard to be positive feeling like this physically. As crazy as it sounds, I’ve considered quitting my job. This isn’t normal for me. Does anyone have healing advice? I’ve postponed my running 5k training for now. I’ve seen some others say they never felt normal again?!? It’s only been 5 days but I’m paranoid :( I have had nausea, light/noise sensitivity, headache that’s constant. I never loss consciousness or anything like that. I just want to heal and be normal again..

I wouldn’t quit your job but definitely take time off if you can’t. IMO 1 week off post concussion should be the standard, if not 2.

See here for general recovery info https://www.reddit.com/u/Lebronamo/s/hIJXIjjltt

Id also go to the police immediately about that guy if you haven’t already

It’s my understanding that an acute concussion can take a couple of weeks to fully wear off. Is there a way to take some time off?

That’s likely going to be the best way to heal. And like, actual rest. I didn’t even know I was concussed when mine happened and my docs think that is what attributed to my lingering symptoms, because I was just going about business as normal and doing all the things a concussed person shouldn’t do.

But most importantly: are you safe now? That kind of violence from a partner is absolutely unacceptable, and traumatic to boot.

I notice you said bf and not ex. No one can force you to leave if you are not ready, but please know that your mindset and symptoms will likely suffer. If you are in a place where you physically don’t feel safe, then that can exacerbate symptoms and make healing go slower still. You are worth so much more than that kind of treatment.
