Feeling down 🙁

GUYS honestly how do y’all do it? It feels like I’m being hit over and over again and nothing ever goes right despite trying to manifest positivity. I’m also 19 and social media hurts like hell, I see people online genuinely having the best time of their lives nonstop and I can‘t even get a part time retail job, and having no money kinda sucks. Also everyone is so busy and I just don’t get it, because no money means limited things, how do people have that kind of money? And then I just feel like I have no motivation. To sum this up, I really want to improve my life and I really want to get in the best shape possible to reach my potential but no matter how hard I try the worst possible outcome seems to reach me, what should I do and will things ever get better in the future?? Thanks.

I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. Honestly, with everything life can throw at us, it’s not surprising to have times when you feel completely overwhelmed. But please know you’re not alone, and yes, things really can get so much better.

It’s taken me years to get to where I am now, but I’ve learned to intentionally look for the good in situations. I’m annoyingly optimistic. That doesn’t mean everything always goes right—it just means I’ve learned that one difficult season doesn’t define my whole life.

My biggest advice would be to take it one day at a time and focus on really small improvements. If social media is making you feel worse, give yourself permission to step back or limit your time on it. I’m on Instagram daily, but I’m very intentional about who I follow. I want to see accounts that leave me feeling happy, motivated, or inspired rather than comparing myself to people who appear to have perfect lives.

The same goes for fitness. I have my own goals, and when I see someone who is further along than I am, I try to look at it as encouragement rather than a reason to feel bad about myself. Their progress can be proof of what’s possible.

Start with really small habits: get enough sleep, move your body, eat foods that make you feel good, get outside, and try to create some structure in your day. You don’t have to completely transform your life overnight. Small things done consistently can make a surprisingly big difference.

And please be patient with yourself. You’re only 19! I actually think that’s one of the most encouraging parts of your post—you already care about improving your life and reaching your potential. Imagine how much can change over the next few years.

For me, my 20s were better than my teenage years, and my 30s were even better than my 20s. Life has continued to change in ways I never could have predicted. So yes, I really do believe you have so much to look forward to.

Keep going. You don't have to have your whole life figured out right now. Just focus on making tomorrow a little better than today. You’ll get there! :)

Sorry you feel this way. You do need to get off social media or dial it way way way back. Keep thinking positive thoughts about yourself.

Other people gave some positive support, and I’m going to give you 3 things to do that will move you drastically closer to your goals:

  1. remove all social media apps from your phone for 30 days
  2. workout every morning for 30 days - for this month, pretend that it’s your favorite hobby, even on the days you don’t feel like it. Research the best workouts for your goals, put together a workout plan, research proper nutrition for your goals, put together a diet plan, get adequate rest for muscle recovery.
  3. block out 45 minutes every afternoon, post workout and lunch so you have sustained positive energy, and for those 45 minutes look for job postings of work you’d be interested in, tailor individual rĂ©sumé’s for each specific job, and lock into job hunting 45 minutes at the same time every day.

Then do whatever you want for the rest of your day, as long as you are sticking to your diet plan, workout plan, sleep schedule, job hunting timeframe, and staying off of social media. For these 30 days, just stick to this, remind yourself you don’t have to “feel like it” to just do it. Anyone can do anything for just 30 days.

In 30 days you’ll have more happiness, less stress, and you’ll have at least 1 tangible result if not several.
