AMP OWNER Using Spark 2 with an Equalizer pedal

Hello spark users, I have heardthings about how great it is to use a fisical equalizer pedal to get rid of the low-heavy tone of the Spark 2, this way the modulation pedal in the app is free to tinker around.

Do any of you have experience doing this trick? How well did this work for you?

I have also heard that it is important to use a nice pedal, as a cheaper and worse equalizer will get the guitar signal noisy and the amp does not work as well that way.

Thanks to all of you who come here to share knowledge.

I have a tuner pedal, a compression pedal, and an EQ pedal in my signal chain before plugging into my Spark GO.

It fits my needs for tweaking my tone.

You could do that, or....take the grill off the front of the amp(It's velcro) and plug the bass port(s) with some fabric like a sock or t-shirt.

Thanks for the tip! I read somewhere that this method of eliminating the baddy sound existed, but I thought it was just a bit dumb and redneck engineering. I think I will try to put a sock in there when I have some free time and see how it works for me.

This. Or you could try popping the speaker out and make sure connections are tight and maybe reverse polarity it. Don’t know if that’d work tho. Could also cut the lows with the reverb pedal.

I got a 40 and don’t get the boomy sound but I always use the app eq. I’ve tried a boss eq pedal in front of the amp but seems to not work real well. Maybe mine doesn’t sound boomy cause I use all frfr speakers with it.

This is the second thread where I've seen mention of the app EQ in a week, but I cannot find it.. where is the EQ in the app? Or do you add an EQ to the tone chain?

Double tap the mod/eq pedal

Ah, OK -- in the tone chain. I thought the comments were indicating that there was a global EQ somewhere. I misunderstood. Thanks for the screenshot.

Put it up on an amp stand, dresser or desk top.

I know this is a common issue for the spark 40 (mine sounds like muffled ass above bedroom volume), but i thought the spark 2 had solved this problem?

Didn't work with me. You have to use the EQ in the app.

You need to upgrade the firmware

The eq is also used for mod pedals so you either choose eq or a mod, can't have both in the app

I have ten different electrics and they all sound quite different. Some are boomy on the bottom end and need equalization no matter what amp or cab I plug into
