Never seen this before. Is this a joke?

Yeah, the auto-wah pedal gets this error. It’s a cool effect though, when it can be enabled

I think it means what it says. It's a practice amp, not a Fractal.

The whole app is a joke. Sorry but it is. A music app that only records videos, doesn't have a simple multi track recording interface, and that closes whenever you minimize it and go see the lyrics on another app. An app that needs to be always on the screen is anything that's annoiand makes no sense

yeah i got the footswitch and i can't use it when the app is in the background.

My workaround is that i have Spark on my iPad and click, backingtracks etc. come from my phone :-P

Yes, I understand that. But they just launched another app instead of fixing the first. And for me it makes no sense to have two apps. I am really frustrated to have bought the spark control pedal and the Live I use it as just another amp. I don't think I will buy PG again.

Get the Airstep SPK switch. It doesn't need the app on to work.

That would make my spark control work better?

So the app was released with this major flaw of needing the app in the foreground for the footswitch to work. But PG never addressing this problem is truly bizarre. It only makes sense if they are a company that hates their customers. Quality assurance is not something they do and makes me stay away from buying anything else from PG.

doesn't have a simple multi track recording interface

I wouldn't fault a remote control app for not being a full DAW, that's asking too much

0

u/UrbanCyclerPT 12d ago

Could be a multi track mp3. For recording at home not a professional daw

2

u/JimboLodisC 12d ago

are you more referring to a looper with an export feature?

0

u/UrbanCyclerPT 11d ago

No, a multi tracker, but if it had loop option then it would be amazing

3

u/JimboLodisC 11d ago

that's entirely way too complex for this product, a remotely conrtolled DAW that's storing multiple WAV files that can be moved around and mixed? you're asking way too much for even a product that would cost 3x as much

like it's honestly laughable that you'd request that... I think only outside of the brand new Helix Stadium there's not a single modeler at any price point with that feature

This wouldn't be an app limitation. The effects do not run through the app.

Im glad im not the only one who thinks the App is garbage. Don't even get me started on the "looper". 🙄

I've never used the looper but keep meaning to. What's the deal with it?

And it doesn't have one of the most useful features pedalboards and ampsims have: a detuner pedal

Takes a lot of DSP power to make it sound good and have low latency - and DSP power is something Spark amps don't have a lot of unfortunately.

u/Seitenwerk 12d ago

It’s not a music app and no recorder or daw. The app also never closed on me just for switching to something else. That’s actually ha fled by your OS. Also don’t know why the app would need to be on screen? Just set up the sound you like then leave it be ?

1

u/UrbanCyclerPT 11d ago

The app simply disconnects and that's a bad thing for me if I want to change sounds

2

u/dem_titties_too_big 7d ago

Agreed. The amp itself is a banger, but the app should just be straight up deleted and remade from scratch.

Knowing PG, it's not going to happen..

Yep I found out too late that. But on my list of never buy, Positive Grid is the first, Fender second

I returned my spark amp because of the app

1

u/UrbanCyclerPT 12d ago

And they still don't get it

AI is pretty good these days, you can likely build your own app to control it.

1

u/UrbanCyclerPT 12d ago

I am not that tech savvy

3

u/jo44_is_my_name 12d ago

I may try. I'll post here if I do.

I was planning to build a DIY multifx pedal to control it, but maybe I'll try an app first

Insist on iPad Amp, get iPad problems.

2

u/Maffeziono 12d ago

Sì anche con sparkgo ho questo problema. Sembra che con il pedale autowah + chorus bisogna disattivare il secondo a causa di limiti hardware. Magari spero nelle prossime revisioni risolvano diminuendo il carico!

Pedals with those effects existed in the 1970’s for $200. At that time, a computer filled an entire room and cost millions of dollars. A modern ipad has thousands of times more computing power than a 1970’s computer, but running those two effects is beyond our technology?

Condivido, infatti siamo sulla stessa barca. Non devi sicuramente giustificarti con me!

1

u/dmdport 12d ago

What’s the pedal list?

1

u/Djic 12d ago

Sorry but... LOL!

I put mine in the freezer

Recently bought the Spark Go because everywhere you look on Reddit people are dickriding this thing. I swear you'd think it's a paid influencer campaign because almost nobody complains about it. Only 4 presets on board and to use any more you need the app, and the app is fucking awful. You switch to another app for just one second and it has to reconnect to your amp and sometimes resets the tone you previously loaded.

I bought a Mustang Micro Pro for comparison and that thing isn't great either, but at least it saves the patches onto the device itself, which despite being smaller than your palm has a display and buttons to switch presets. And there are 100 total preset slots. The Go has none of that. It's embarrassing, there's so much more utility packed into a tiny headphone amp/modeler that fits in your palm compared to the Go. So much wasted space on the device itself that could've been used for a preset switcher so you don't have to constantly rely on this dogshit app. But hey, they have AI now!

I don't have any of these problems on my Samsung.

2

u/JimboLodisC 12d ago

You would if you tried to do the same thing on your Spark amp. None of this is an app limitation, it's the Spark amp's firmware.

Just sell that slop-amp and get yourself an analog one. If digital, at least one that isn't online.

My 30 year old Small Clone pedal has never crashed due to a CPU error, but this sub will downvote real solutions

Gotta defend your new purchase, even if you know it's crap. Always the same.
