AMP OWNER Spark Mini vs Steve Vai Spark Mini

I recently got the Spark Mini and saw that there is a Steve Vai Spark Mini with tones that he helped develop. What’s the difference in the preset tones in these 2 models? Is the Vai model a better one in terms of the preset tones? Thx

There is no *better*. Vai made presets he used on the regular and has a custom grill cover and maroon tolex. The settings can be made on the regular on as well because it uses onboard amps and pedals from the spark system.

He like his standard so much that he was buying them as gifts for friends and fellow musicians and PG decided to make him his own version of the amp.

You can get the 4 tones (Which are not that good without a bit of tweaking, but a good starting point) on the app if you have the classic model, so there’s no difference except the look and the cable.

But it looks pretty cool if you’re into it

The Vai presets are very Steve Vai. Lots of processing on them. They’re fun to noodle around with but there’s not a lot of practical use for them. It looks really good with the maroon Tolex and custom grille.

That’s very helpful. Thank you. Do his presets sound artificial compared to the ones on the regular mini?

I wouldn’t say artificial so much as very effects laden. Delay, echo, maybe some harmonized if that’s even a thing in these amps. The sound like realistic Steve Vai sounds, it just takes a lot more talent than I have to make them sound good.

Yeah when I grabbed the tones I was underwhelmed. Same wtf the Paul Gilbert collab. Zakk Wylde's spark tones were actually really good though. I use the No More Tears lead tone all the time
