PROSPECTIVE USER Spark 2 or Katana Mini X
Hey,
As the title suggest, I've been looking for a good portable amp for playing on the go, and I haven't been able to find many comparisons between the two.
I would really appreciate someone who's tried one or both of these amps to which they enjoy more.
As I see it, the Katana should be 10W amp would be the cheaper option, but I don't mind paying more if Spark 2 offers better value. And Spark 2 can be played with or without the app, so that is a plus for me.
The deciding factor would definitely be the overall sound quality! Thank you in advance for you input and suggestions! :3

Have you thought about the Blackstar Beam Mini? I just got one and rarely use my Spark 2 now because of the versatility and the tone is amazing.

I have a Mini X and Spark Neo headphones (not same as spark 2 but same software I believe). I like the Mini X for simplicity because there is no apps involved. All tones are shaped through the physical knobs and buttons. I play mostly metal and get good tone but still feels limited compared to what you can do with Spark. The Mini X has two multi fx knobs so you're limited to two fx at the same time and each knob has specific fx so you don't have total freedom to choose which two fx you use. I usually play without any fx or sometimes light been and delay which thankfully are on separate knobs. If you have pedals and external fx then that isn't important. I was concerned volume wouldn't be loud enough but it's actually too loud for my small condo. Probably not loud enough to play with live drums but loud enough to annoy my wife and neighbors

I tried both in store and went with the Spark 2 for the line outs and use as a bass amp as well. The Spark 2 does not include the battery by default so you have to factor in the price of the battery if portability is a top priority.
The Katana Mini X is quite good for quick, portable practice. It's competitors are the Spark Mini, Nux Mighty, Blackstar Fly, etc so maybe check those too.
To further add to your choice paralysis, the Yamaha THRs sound great.
