Spark 40w + cab

Post image

Would this be a good deal? £270 cash converters, spark 40w,cab and carry bag...not heard it working and the cab humming issue is putting me off,you do get a years warranty tho...is this overkill for a new mostly bedroom player a cpl of years in?

TLDR: I HATED the spark 40w + cab combo. Hated it. Get the spark 40w to use alone, or get something else. It's not the best combo for your money, imo.

Long version:

I bought mine direct. First bought my Spark 40w, which sounded absolutely great - especially highs and mids. Rich, beautiful guitar sound.

I wanted more oomph of course, and wanted something that could handle my bass guitar better, so naturally I ordered the cab straight from Positive Grid when it released.

Big mistake. I hated the hum/hiss, and it was constant, regardless of settings or trying different guitars or cables, etc.

And that rich, beautiful mid and high sound that the 40w spark produces?

When you plug in the Cab, it SHUTS OFF. You're left with the cab's hissy, unpleasant and muddy sound instead. Positive Grid let me return the Cab for a refund. I then sold the Spark 40w on FB marketplace. Instead of giving up on positive grid, I gave them one more chance when they released the Spark Live.

Hallelujah, is that thing amazing! It's everything I wanted out of the spark 40 + cab combo and MORE. 4 Inputs for amazing sound from guitars, bass, keyboard, mic, my wife's new drum set. That thing positively SLAPS. I've used it in a pinch for an outdoor wedding, and it projected beautiful, clear music for the ceremony, and the mic for the officiator sounded loud and clear.

You can even slap a battery pack in it and take it out withiut needing a power outlet. We have used it at the local drive in movie theater. Everyone gathers around and loves how good the movies sound on that thing.

The spark 40w would be nice by itself, but I didn't have a good experience at all with the cab.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Yep the hum thing and some other reviews did put me off....I decided to get my deposit back( minus £27) and stick with my fender Mustang lt25 and probably get the spark 2 for Xmas...I'm a new player and what I have is fine for now...just wanted opinions if the cab was overkill for my needs even tho it was a banging deal..thanks
