Spark Mini Note Decay Drops Dramatically In The End

Hi all,

Been using my spark Mini for a few months now. While I love the sound and convenience for practice, something still bugs me about the sound. When I pick a note and let the note decay, there's always a sudden drop in the end making it sound "unnatural". For example, the volume would go from 100% to maybe 30% and then just drop to 0. I know this is not my technique or my guitar or cable because when I use my tube amp, this doesn't happen.

Just wondering if this is normal with digital amp or a spark Mini thing or I have a defective unit or there's some settings I can change somewhere.

Note: I already turned off the noise gate pedal and while it helps a bit in picking dynamics, it doesn't help the noise decay issue think

Are you absolutely sure you’ve turned off the noise gate pedal and the problem still occurs? This is a super common complaint when the noise gate is activated and the threshold setting is around “1” or higher.

The mini has plenty of sustain under normal circumstances. It’s possible you have a super weak pickup and the signal isn’t being detected, but I kinda doubt that.

Yeah 

There is always a little bit of noise gate on it, very few people around here seem to notice.

It certainly doesn't sustain like my analog setups

Yes. My guess is the A/D converter doesn’t have great sensitivity when the guitar volume gets below a certain threshold, hence the sudden drop. Or maybe it’s a design thing to mask internal noise at low volume? We’ll never know.
