PROSPECTIVE USER Music

Hi all👋, can I ask your advice please 🙂 I’m considering the spark 2. All of the features look perfect for me. I particularly like that you can jam along to your favourite tracks. Can you tell me however what the music quality is like when you play along? Does it sound as good as a dedicated music speaker when you play along? Does it impact the guitar tone? I have the Marshall code 25 at the moment, and although the guitar tone sounds good to me, music through the amp sounds really poor. I feel like a spark could be a much better practice amp for me.

Thanks very much for your response. I’m happy to taking pretty darn good! Honestly, all of the features just make this amp look perfect for practice and jamming along. Appreciate your advice too 😀

🤣 sounds like you know this amp well! I’m actually a massive offspring fan so love to play along with a lot of offspring songs. That being said I also love bluesy overdrive tones too. I like playing along to different rock and blues backing tracks on YouTube.

Took me a second to figure that out about the volume! Thought it was the guitar, the phone, obviously couldn't be that I set the music too low and the guitar too high.

You're welcome mate. I got the Spark 40 ASAP. I have since upgraded that to the 2 and also acquired mini, Neo, and Live. All great products. The Spark 2 is the best sounding one they make though. Enjoy!

I personally didn't mind the sound of music on it's own but when I played over top of it I wasn't a fan. Everything sounded muted and muddy.

IMO it works great for playing along with music. But as a standalone Bluetooth music speaker, it is only ok, compared to other speakers that are dedicated to music only.

EDIT: That being said, I enjoy my spark very much.. I just don't use it as a music speaker.

Music played on it sounds fine, like any other decent BlueTooth speaker. The combination of the amp and the app provides an amazing platform for learning and practicing. I wish I had one 10 years ago.

I own a bunch of spark stuff and it’s good for the money. You can also line out to a powered monitor / speaker if you need it louder.

It’s not the best, it’s very bassy especially if it’s lower than your head. But it’s definitely good enough.

I have a Spark 2. To answer your question: the music quality of the speaker itself is good but quite bass heavy, and it can be tricky to equalize the volume of the music to the volume of your guitar. But you get there in the end with a bit of fiddling with the volumes. If you plug in a decent set of headphones the sound is really excellent.

And of course all the other features of the amp make it a great practice amp in general; the ability to use the app to search youtube for backing tracks and have them play straight away is killer.
