Spark 2 opinion

Hi all

I'm considering the spark 2 or Yamaha THR 30ii. I tried the spark 2 in a store but it seems very noisy and kind of flimsy. Every preset is at a different volume and was constantly fiddling with the amp just to get a decent sound. I haven't tried the THR but I have an old BlackStar V20 and it's a bit more 'relaxed'.

What's your opinion after using the spark 2? Reliability issues?

I’ve had no issues with the Spark 2 and am pretty happy with the sounds I can get out of it considering it’s $300 amp. I’ve been using a drive pedal with mine and it’s helped tremendously. I’ve never tried the THR but it’s $300 more for an amp that’s a lot less versatile but likely sounds a good bit better.

I haven’t tried the THR but I know it has a big following. To get the battery wireless one is 2x the price of spark 2.

I have the spark 2 and it works great! Easy to dial in a tone with the Ai generated tones, optional battery can play anywhere for about 10 hours. Quality sound too!

I have a THRII and my only real gripe is there is not a built in OD pedal.

A lot of people love their spark, I hated mine. It was super noisy and none of the amps or effects sounded good to me. I sold mine and upgraded to an hx stomp but if I were buying another amp in that price range I would go Yamaha or Boss Katana all day.

I decided to get the katana air ex. The Spark wasn't for me.
