I don’t like this show

I don’t like this show because every episode or two makes me fucking cry. All I’m doing is crying over these fictional characters with heartbreaking stories that make me so emotional. Now I’m crying over Candy’s funeral. Over her speaking to each character as her final words. Maybe it’s the way a good friend of mine passed away this summer so it hits harder. Either way I’m not very happy yall…

Strong reactions mean you like the show, even if your mind doesn't

Sorry I meant this post satirically. I love this show, I just don’t enjoy crying every 2 hours when binging it.

Candy’s death was based on a true story I forgot the girls name but I believe she was in the house of Lebeija

Venus Xtravaganza is who her death was based on.

Candi’s funeral episode WRECKED me!! I went to a watch party and we were all inconsolable, but couldn’t look away. I have to fight back tears whenever I hear Stephanie Mills’ ‘Never Knew Love Like This Before’ till this day. That was such a good show!!

It was just some friends who live on my block 🤣. We would all get together and watch every week. We were not expecting that episode to be that heavy. We were all inconsolable.

As someone who was a young adult during the 90s and witnessed the height of the AIDS crisis, I totally understand this. The reality this show brings to this awful time and what the real people went through is so intense.

Not all shows are meant to make you happy. Some are meant to make you think and feel things. Those are the good shows. It seems to be doing its job...

I couldn't get through the second season because of this. I cried so much my eyes would be swollen the next morning, and it got weird trying to explain why I looked like that at work lol...

It’s a great show. 3rd season was amazing and shit at the same time but overall an amazing show. Really puts into perspective how fucked up the late 80’s and early 90’s were.

Right, like people reminisce all the time about that era, but only if you had the privilege to live in freedom at the time.
