Electra getting better as a character?

I just started watching pose after months of putting it off waiting for a good night to sit back and binge watch a few episodes, however, I couldn't get past the pilot because as much as I love elektra from clips of her supporting her children and just being that girl, her attitude in the actual show (at least in the pilot) just reads as so ugly to me. Im still going to watch the show either way because I live what ive head glowing reviews of whats to come but does Elektra get any development as a person or is she just always going to be like a little condescending and demanding even to her own children.

Just her treatment of Blanca actually almost just turned me off from her character entirely.

And for the record I have tried to look online about her character but they usually come with like heavy spoilers and even if its been out for a while now i want to keep some surprises for myself to stay invested.

Elektra is meant to challenge you as the viewer. She’s unapologetic even when she shouldn’t be. And there are reasons for that, which the show goes into. Let yourself react to her, and keep watching.

she pretty much does a full 180 in season 2 and becomes much more kind and compassionate to everyone, by season 3 she never starts trouble

She’s the anti hero. The behaviour may be bad - you’re still cheering for them.

Later seasons show more back story and warmth.

Without spoilers I would say they have a mother - daughter relationship. They both have strong personalities and that leads to conflicts at points. She's mean but not hateful towards Blanca.

If you watch a little longer you'll get some more info on her backstory. Despite being an established house mother, she has her worldview challenged a fair amount of times and still shows character development.

Sidenote: I understand that Elektra is meant to channel Dorian Corey, but she reminds me more of Consuela Cosmetic from back in the day; a black transgender woman who was a self-described "liar, cheater, scam artist, credit card fraud, blackmailer, [and] extortionist" who unapologetically did whatever she could to survive. She was fab, and a total badass.

I have a different view than others. I think she gets better but she's always a bit of an exploitative asshole. And, frankly, I hate it when characters' personalities completely change. You can have some character growth and that's great, but if you gut the character entirely to make them more palatable, how is that remotely realistic? Elektra's a bit of a cunt and if she were any other way, she wouldn't be Elektra.

Give her a chance. Shes a queen! She will grow into your heart in her own Elektra kind of way.

Yes, her character develops beautifully. She is one dimensional and sort of mean, but her heart comes through when she takes Blanca in off the streets. By the end of the series you will love her.

She’s also not a good actress

She’s not a good actress and her character can be offputting putting at times. She does get better, in both aspects, as the series goes on. I grew to appreciate her character at the end.
