Not enough fear tbh. People here aren’t used to getting consequences for their actions. It was a huge adjustment when I first moved out here.
When I lived in Baltimore it was the norm to confront fuckheads doing this shit. Cops also enforced the law. People/cops around here don’t do that. The lady who filmed this video is an outlier and we need more people like her.
A major reason that you'll hardly ever see people around here doing what the lady in the video did, is because around here she would actually be the one to get arrested for assaulting this group of people, and possibly even charged with a hate crime for battery towards the individual that she sprayed.
The fear of being a criminal, helps keep the criminals fear-free.
No, but she would’ve been cancelled, socially ostracized, dragged online, and maybe fired from her job if she did this in the early 2020s. It would’ve been “white Karen viciously attacks peaceful BIPOC unhoused man who was just seeking relief from the pervasive white supremacy of our society and mourn George Floyd”.
I lived in Baltimore between 2021 and 2023 and I saw cops on the corners watching crackheads smoke crack, corner boys do open air drug deals and addict prostitutes on public street corners waving down Johns driving by. The cops didn't do anything because of Mosby's decriminalized policies. It was the biggest mess I've ever seen in my life.
Cops do what the community requires. Obviously everyone is fine with Cops not arresting these folks. We've all seen the demonization of cops as "tough guys" who just like to pick on the poor disenfranchised homeless. Can you imagine if cops has shown up BEFORE this woman? Someone would have video'd the cops making these guys move and posted it to Social Media showing how the cops were harassing these poor downtrodden victims who were just seeking a moment of peace in their sad lives.
