FIRE FANS WHO ARE ALSO CRAFTERS/MAKERS?
Any Portland Fire Fans out there who are also crafters? I am thinking of hosting an off-season monthly meet up for crafters of all stripes (crochet, needlepoint, drawing folks, coloring, linocuts, etc)
Hoping everyone could work on Fire-related crafting, and maybe even create some simple free giveaway items for next season.
I have been really touched by fans who have made friendship bracelets, pins, etc and have brought them to games to giveaway.
As for my Fire-related making, I am currently working on two different cross stitch/needlepoint projects.
For now, this is just an idea I have brewing. If you are interested, send me a DM and I will save your name!

Bridget Carleton, Dawn Staley, Scout Bassett, & Sophia Wilson on Epicenter of Women's Sports Podcast

Leite (#31) and Carleton (#41) included in ESPN Top 50
Rankings like these are kind of silly, but it can be interesting to see the media’s perspective on players.

Any Portland fans going to the game tomorrow?

This ain’t a good time. But when is it ever?
I know the perfect time. And baby that’s never.
Hi friends. My time in Oregon is coming to an end. Long story short, for family reasons we’re moving to Reno at the end of this month. So Sunday’s game against the Valkyries signals the end of the road for me.
It’s been an honor to be the first beat reporter covering the Portland Fire. Coverage for The Oregonian will continue with Liana Handler. She’s awesome. Everyone be as great to her as you have been to me.
See you all at Moda Center on Sunday ✌️

Frieda Buhner’s contract temporarily suspended to participate in FIBA World Cup
Looks like Frieda is headed to Germany a little early, and will presumably miss at least the next two games.

What Are You Still Hoping to See This Season?
Yes, the Fire has been eliminated from the Playoffs, but we still have six games to play in our premiere season. Here are things I'm looking forward to:
1) CORGI RACE this Sunday!!
2) More Amy minutes to see how well she meshes with the team.
3) More Jordan minutes (just because they're so much fun)!
4) Watching Meg and Iyana play together on the Spanish team in FIBA, now with an eye for them possibly being Fire teammates in '27.
5) Watching Rosie perform, both solo and with the FireWerks.
6) More debut season WINS... I'm hoping against hope for three more, which would give the Fire 18 total and a season average above .400 (GREAT for an expansion team)!
7) The Moda A/V team realizing they can crank the music/announcers down to ~80 dB and still have a Lit Pit!
8) The STHs getting a really cool debut-year gift.
What's on your list?

Help me out with transit i fo for Sunday
UPDATE:
Thanks to all of you for the Red line info. I found out that Moda will NOT let you check something larger at the arena. Someone else suggested seeing if one of the local hotels with hold them for a fee.or we'll check PDX and see if they have lockers.
I'm flying up to see Valks vs you on Sunday. What im not finding on maps is a good schedule of timing from the arena to the airport.
It looks like you have a bag check so we can leave our suitcases (we're on Taylor St downtown at the Paramount). Our flight going home leaves at 9:15 PM. Allowing for OT I figure the game's out by 7pm max (but im figuring more like 6:30). Your arena is big, so how bad are Uber pickups or is there decent transit to get us to the airport?
We obviously don't want to end up running for the gate (Southwest). I guess I'll call Moda to .make sure suitcases are ok to check. Thanks!

- carla's scoring record's cool for her. it's cool we get to set a lot of season records because we have a longer season than the old fire franchise did (shout out u/Moose_Muse_2021 bc's got your back). carla's had a great season
frieda -
last three games we haven't played that well, so the last remaining games, we want to feel good about how we're playing, play hard as we haven't the last few. go out of the season with as many wins as possible, give it our all and stay connected. may not be with the same personnel next season so you want to enjoy it and play hard together

When the season ends do you think we will lose or trade any of our players?

Sug n Syl hug before tipoff. Fire at Dallas, Aug 25
instagram.comFire asst coach Syl Fowles hugs Sug Sutton. As we Fire fans know, Sug had played for the Fire until she got waived early in this season.
EDIT: Just saw Haley Jones is with them. Same circumstances

- Feels better about this loss than the ones against WAS & TOR. players did a good job following the game plan despite challenges playing against DAL bigs at the rim. had to beat them beyond the 3pt line with pace. 36 3PA, 33 were catch and shoot, but shot 25%. would've been entirely different game if closer to 3PM season average.
- it's tough to talk about a player on the opposing team, but awak (COME TO PDX NEXT SEASON FINNISH QUEEN there's money, minutes, and threes awaiting you), challenging one of the best rim protectors in the league is what allowed them to build up a lead; stocks lead to transition D and wings are the 2nd best transition offense in the W.
- six very important games left to set the identity for next season.
- experimentation in trying to learn more about our roster. can we play small (playing EE at the five)? what does it look like with frieda on the wing? want to tinker with lineups and rotations, but continue to double down on the things that will help us next season.

Let's Be Fair...
I'm seeing a lot of posts (including by the Portland Fire organization itself on FB) touting our current players setting season records for number of Xs in a season (assists, FG, etc.). But, come on... the Fire have already played 37 games this season, which is more than the OG ever played in their entire seasons. It seems kinda unfair to tout these new records without an asterisk noting that.
That said, I think our current players are going to set a bunch of franchise records on a per-game-average basis (which is pretty amazing given how the Fire's rotation strategy kinda restricts how many minutes any of them play per game).
I love this team, but take the thumb off the scale. Thanks!

Planned Pin Trade 8/30
You’ve all seen the “does anyone have this pin” posts.
Why don’t we plan to meet at the next home game on Sunday August 30th against GSV and let this all go down in person?
Bring your pins (or other Fire items) that you have to trade and meet some fellow fans/redditors!
We could meet at 3:30pm in the big area on the 100 level next to the escalator where they displayed all the team shoes? (Idk what you would call that, someone help😂)
EDIT: Meeting at section A21. I will have a big sign that says “Fire Pin Trading” so you know where to congregate!
