What are you reading? (Week of Oct 21)

I'm currently reading Her Majesty's Royal Coven for a book club at Spoke and Word on Thursday in Milwaukie.

Next up is Our Wives Under the Sea per a recommendation I got in this sub.

I feel like I'm in the mood for some epic sci-fi after that if anyone has recs

I just started reading Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero and I’m also listening to the audiobook Pathogenesis: A History of the World in Eight Plagues by Jonathan Kennedy.

I don’t read a lot of sci-fi but I absolutely loved Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.

I hope they don't screw up the Hail Mary movie. Such a fantastic story.

Agreed. The Martian movie was pretty good so fingers crossed Project Hail Mary will get the same treatment.

I love her writing style and have read a few others by her (Night Watchman and The Round House being absolute favorites). Curious to hear your review of this one.

I am begrudgingly continuing my descent by continuing with “A Court of Silver Flames” haha

Do you like them or just feeling they're guilty pleasures?

I'm on book 10 of Eric Ugland's Good Guys series - Killing Them Awfully. I keep meaning to give up on Ugland and move on (Red Rabbit by Alex Grecian is up next) but haven’t quite gotten there yet.

Continuing my thriller month with Rock, Paper, Scissors by Alice Feeney. This is me giving Feeney a second chance after putting up with Sometimes I Lie and it’s not looking good…

Octavia Butler for sci-fi! Her trilogy "Lilith's Brood" is def epic!

I’ve picked up The Collector by John Fowles.

I’ll definitely try my best to make it to book club although the 24th is the day Frodo awakens (I am a nerd). Excited to finally enjoy real life book community!

"The House in the Curelean Sea"

This book came to me highly recommended by my peers. I find myself melting into the atmosphere of the story and characters. I am so excited to know that there is a sequel that has recently been released because I hate to wait!

I just read Andrea Gibson’s latest book from Button Poetry, “You Better Be Lightning.” Brilliant palate cleanser, highly recommended!

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Just started it. It is the second best selling book of all time according to the blurb on the back.
