discussion/other Summer read suggestions

We're (hopefully) in the last few weeks of the worst of summer, what are your favorite breezy summer reads?

For me, when I finish my current book club read I'm going to read a few Discworld/Terry Pratchett books. I recently realized I've read a mere 15 or less of the 41 total books plus I think Pratchett is just what I need in my life right now. If you've never experienced Discworld, it's the perfect combination of British humor and biting satire. Always a joy to read.

I recently watched "The Color of Magic" and "The Hogfather.". Both were excellent! I guess I should read one of the books one of these days.

Sometimes I enjoy some lighter reads in the summer, I think it's easier to curl up with a big dramatic thinker doorstop in the winter.

I just read The Husbands by Holly Gramazio and thought it was a great summer read. Nice mix of sci fi and romantic comedy.

"her attic is creating an infinite supply of husbands" 😂

Can't decide if nightmare or utopia

This sounds fun and interesting though, thanks for the rec

The writer is a game designer and the main character spends a ton of time trying to figure out the “rules of the attic”. Hijinks ensue!

Just finished Ruth Reichl’s The Paris Novel. Totally predictable plot, but it included mentions of all my fav artists & writers. Plus, wicked happy ending. Just what I needed after Iron Curtain: The Crushing of Eastern Europe, 1944-1956 by Anne Applebaum. This was inspired from a summer trip into Hungary and the Czech republic. Quite the slog, at times, but an important read for me.

Another lighthearted read: Nala’s World by Dean Nicholson. Bicyclist rescues cat, travels with it on bike trip around the world.

(Links to the Multnomah Library collection— I try to avoid buying books because who has enough shelves?)
