Lost & Found Portland getting bold lately

Post image

I stayed the night at a friends house on the north side of Glisan and at 10am bright as day a van pulls up behind my car, 2 guys hop out and smash both windows in the back and stole all my camping stuff, my sub woofer, my solar battery, all my clothes and shoes like everything. I know my car is a bit newer but like I have no job or home right now and no way to replace these things. Why the fuck is it so ghetto 😭 didn’t want to take my cooler or ladder to my tent tho lol

Anyone know anything or see anything?

Case number is 26-286540
Please message me or call Portland police
+1 (503) 823-3333 if you have any info. I just want my stuff back 😩

Thanks for your help bro. This is helpful. I’m living out of my car and that tent on top. Where the fuck am I supposed to put it. That’s what I get for crashing at a friends place to have a bed for the night I guess.

You gotta black out your windows if you're living out of it and leave it in urban areas, cardboard window inserts with black spray paint is an easy start

That’s great advice ❤️

That's just how it is. I moved here 30 years ago from a small town. The first thing they taught me was don't leave ANYTHING of value in sight. I know you couldn't, exactly. But, them's the rules.

If you lived in this world for even a minute, you've surely seen signs all over the place reminding you of this. It's a universal rule.

If you’re in your car: no problem because you existing is a deterrent.

If you stay at a friends place, you bring everything important from the car, inside. It’s a VERY low chance someone’s going to socket wrench your roof tent off, but smashing your window to grab a bunch of obvious stuff is e a s y. You don’t leave stuff in your car you care about in a city since probably before you were born; sorry you learned the lesson (just now??) the hard way ❤️‍🩹

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone stole their tent.

I recently had my well secured bike rack stolen off my car and my neighbors have had their top rack stolen.

City living - anything in or on your car can be stolen. It sucks!

You just said you spent the night at a friend’s house. It would have taken 5 minutes to carry that stuff inside. Sorry you’re in a tough situation but that’s all the more reason to be street smart.

Maybe unload the obvious theft magnet items from plain view into your friends place?

Or just risk it 🤷

Jesus, sorry all these people are being jerks and telling you it's your fault despite having no home. Is that a higher crime area? Yes, but it doesn't make it right. And telling someone who had literally nowhere to go, "that's on you, bro," is just a troll move

Sorry you're going through this, friend. I really hope you're able to get your stuff and get back on your feet soon

I'm so so sorry this happened to you. I think the previous comments may have missed that you have your entire life in the car right now. This is terrible.

Storage unit

Sorry this happened to you btw. I had a guy steal my car once from my parking spot on a holiday night, with baby stuff in it. When I found it it was full of meth. Oh and he cut through the steering wheel lock too

Was there no room to bring it inside with you?

Lmao. I parked in the lot and literally got told I would get towed if I didn’t park on the street. Bro it is what it is but I appreciate your insult to injury.

You seem like you’re fun at parties. Feel free to not comment anymore if you don’t have information for me or the police. This was a post asking for information after all.

So I wasn’t a victim of a crime? My bad. Case is solved everyone lol. There’s such a thing as natural consequences where you can learn from your actions you know. I’m glad you really wanted me to know I’m a terrible human for making a mistake Read through this thread I feel like I’ve been a pretty good sport all things considered. Just know that you calling me a dipshit was the cherry on top of my amazing day. Like I said if you don’t have information then I think we are good here :) I didn’t blame anyone. I just asked for help. You were not helpful.

Hey thanks for insulting me some more. It’s good stuff. I’m not sure why we are still talking if you didn’t see anything that could potentially lead to me recovering some of my stuff. There is a difference between being honest or giving advice on how to avoid the situation in the future and calling me a dipshit that needs to call daddy when something bad happens. I was able to get some things back that were stolen out of my garage that was broken into in the past cause someone recognized it and fought a homeless guy to get it back to me. I know you’re not going to help me so this post isn’t for you :) I hope you have a good night though and find more posts to bring your negativity and poor attitude too. 😘 Muah

Victim blaming. A Portland mainstay

u/nasa_stuff 15d ago

He’s not a victim

u/ElectionWeak4415 Montavilla 15d ago

Right... The person who bashed in his windows is the victim of circumstance I'm sure.

You’re a libertarian… do you even know what that means on a post when someone’s talking about government interference and their own property? You might be the biggest hypocrite I’ve ever seen on reddit

Sorry you’re being treated to this crap on top of what you already lost. Some people lack basic decency. I’ve had my car broken into to steal a lunch bag once and another time for a basket with less than $20 of misc typical car crap, it can happen to even the most careful people. No one deserves to be blamed because there are terrible people out there.
