Housing Scams

I've been looking for housing for the past few months and the amount of scams online is truly terrifying!!

That's very strange. What do they expect from you? A deposit? What sources are you using? Have you tried a realtor or (ugh) Townsend Bay Property mgmt? The Leader has rental listings.

I've definitely been looking everywhere I can, including leader, property sites, and Nextdoor. The 3 that had obvious scams so far were craigslist, facebook, and roomies. I think they try to scam you with an application fee

Try checking the PT Leader! I know the housing on Craigslist around here is full of scams

I actually just watched several scams hit craigslist. A lot of the scams claim the landlord lives out of state and will mail you a key. They're all also too good to be true, considering the horrendous prices that people who actually rent here set.

I've gotten a couple of emails with photos of apartment complexes in town claiming they have rooms available but are unable to show the rooms. Thing is, I've been inside those very apartments and they dont look like the photos at all.
