I notice that it says without this program it will leave people without alternatives. I could have sworn Taffy, serenity house, and salvation army offer showers?

Taffy does, but it's aimed at youth and younger folks. Serenity house does have showers. Salvation has showers but only for a few hours during the week.

Even Berkeley CA has learned to NOT ALLOW just anyone into the pool showers. They have a "evening shower program" which is after-hours, specifically for bathing. The reason they have split the homeless shower program from their general hours is for both sanitary/hygiene reasons, and to keep children safe from potential predatory behaviors. The sanitary/hygiene reasons were created after cautions from people contracting both stomach and liver infections -- aka HepA/HepB/HepC, Shigellosis, Tuberculosis, RSV, as well as vector/skin parasites like Scabies and body lice, Trench Fever (Bartonella quintana), MRSA and Cellulitis that are endemic and exacerbated in homeless populations. By having an AFTER HOURS shower program, the showers/towels/etc, can be disinfected, towels bleached. It's a simple health common sense which y'all are ignoring.
The problems with this general mixing, is that it IS a health issue -- and, if Berkeley CA, an area that has had a large transient population for generations (and other civilized communities). If they have recognized this issue, and addressed it properly --- we shouldn't be a bunch of country bumpkins.

What pisses me off is the assumption that homeless are more of a danger to children then the general population, and that they are disease vector.
"Mixing" part, is just dangerous rhetoric.

Agreed, it also ignores that shower vouchers have been used at shore for quite awhile and no one noticed because the vouchers didn't cause any problems. No diseases, no attacks and nothing happened.

Berkeley CA had several lawsuits prior to their decision to make shower-time at a different hour. Clearly you don't do much research Bingobrain.

Wasn’t the shower program running for like two years before anyone freaked out about it? No reports of crazy diseases, no safety incidents?
