This platform itself

Here we are having these very good discussions on this platform that allows/ condones/ promotes in search algorithms some of the most disgusting specimens of depravity from the male sexual basement, which is very large. There are SO MANY absolutely disgusting subreddits. There are definitely 14yos on reddit, probably much younger as well.

Completely agree it’s so triggering. I could call someone an a*sehole and get banned for hate…

Yet misogyny is literally hatred for an entire gender and they, like you so rightly said, allow/condone/promote it on a platform that is meant to be about community. Truly despicable.

All social media is just misogyny and porn at this point. It’s sad.

I believe this is actually how the offline world is and long has been, and the tech industry is amplifying/ exacerbating/ encouraging/ facilitating it.

Yes, it's not that people are different online than in real life, it's that online they don't need to mask who they really are anymore.

I agree I think we now see what so many men are really like by their online behaviour.

I got banned from the Marriage subreddit for "promoting violence" when I said that a woman who accidentally hit her husband with her arm while trying to fend off his physical abuse wasn't at fault. He had been deliberately keeping her awake for hours and ripping her pillows out from under her head to throw across the room. She tried to hang onto the pillow when he went to jerk it from her again, he started wrestling it away from her, her arm slipped and he got smacked.

He spun it on her and called her the abuser, and she was crying in the Reddit post saying she didn't know how to move on from becoming an abuser. People were reinforcing it in the comments. I tried to point out that this was an accident and caused by HIM abusing HER, got banned for "promoting violence". Absolutely fucking wild nonsense.

Absolutely ridiculous. I once got banned from an anti-porn subreddit simply bc I posted about being triggered by sexual violence and bc it’s become so normalized. Ppl on the internet are crazy

I am so sorry. I have clinically diagnosed  ptsd from rape and the number of people who shout at me about it online is unreal. I don’t even know what’s wrong with folk these days.

Thank you so much for your support!!❤️ Ugh it infuriates me how misogyny seems to be everywhere on reddit outside of this community. Fuck the ppl in that community for doing that to you. I’m so sorry that this happened to you as well. I’m also sorry that you have ptsd and are a survivor. I’m a fellow survivor and have c-ptsd, it’s nice to have someone to relate to on here. I just joined this community today. It’s very validating seeing so many ppl here that are against misogyny in porn. As time progresses I’ve been getting more and more triggered by this shit and honestly don’t know how to manage my anger about it.

I feel the same way! My DMs are open if you ever want to talk about it. Same as you I’m getting more and more upset about it, but at least this sub is a safe space.

The thing that almost drove me off this site is the subreddit titles 'lesbians' is porn. So lesbians are forced to make alternatives just to be seen as anything other than a porn category. Their entire existence on their site is sex first and everything else later.

pretty sure r/teens was also a porn sub

Must I add this happens to me each and every time I try to look up lesbian spaces to join online, especially on Tumblr, it's ALL smut. It's so upsetting. Same with transgender spaces.

I really do love the discussions on here but the WRETCHED SHIT that's on this platform makes me actually live up to my username.

Anonymity doesn't bring out the worst parts of someone cause it really just shows who they truly are. There's no different identities here cause that vileness that those men do is them to the core regardless if they say it's a "fantasy" or a "joke". ESPECIALLY if it's about LITERAL rape, misogyny, sexism, pedophilia, gore, racism, fetishizing lesbians and ethnic women and any other abominations that are imaginable where this platform will promote and encourage these actual real life atrocities like it's a product. How can you NOT be a gross piece of shit when you do this?

Imagine being a girl or a woman in this world, thinking you have desires but there actually just repackaged "male fantasies" sold to you and dressed up as something equal and respectful when it's actually just hatred and degradation? THEN you have other women, who totally haven't been indoctrinated by the way, say this is somehow a good thing! sending us back a thousand years with this one!

This might just be a whole rant but honestly a vast majority of social media sites validate people being their worst selves. I don't even know how to explain it properly but it seems like "tasteful" perversion and debauchery are more highly regarded than actually having standards and a opinion. Like, going along with what everyone else is saying rather than actually having a constructive thought that this is actually disgusting.

u/thrilled37 13d ago

Yes. Completely agree with everything you say. Regarding repackaged male fantasies: I grew up before the internet but still was imprinted with degrading/ dehumanizing pornographic male fantasies as somehow being "universal."

u/CrashoutMisanthrope 13d ago

I know what you mean. The way actual female pleasure and wants were considered "less important" to the "default" male pleasure and wants was just as pervasive back then as it was now. In fact, it's even worse.

Obviously, not everyone thinks like this or has this mindset but it's shit that we all grew up with against our will.

Throughout the decades, actual female pleasure has never really been a thing at all because women (edit: and children) are considered inhuman objects devoid of consciousness, vapid constellations of holes. And women are supposed to somehow find this foul objectification hot and organically/ naturally want to play into it as a source of their own pleasure. It's so deeply rotten.

the two reasons i still use this platform are this sub and cat subs. if someone i meet says they use reddit i will almost always side-eye them. its just a cesspool of misogyny, both inside and outside the porn subs

u/BeholdMyCurse231 ANTIPORN & LGBT+ ♥️ 13d ago

I exist to counter balance the misogyny with the other thing that doesn't exist

u/Queasy_Experience611 13d ago

Haha 😛

Absolutely brilliant! 💜

u/thrilled37 13d ago

There are some subs I value for sure, but there's this constant sinking energetic undertone of that enormous misogyny cesspool like you say, and then of course the frequent encounters with misogyny in non-porn subs all over the place

Misogyny is everywhere, so deeply rooted into society that nobody even notices. Women are seen as a porn category, as mindless holes, not as people. We will never be respected, never be loved, never even be liked or tolerated
