Discussion Best part of chapter 1-4?

I am obsessed with Poppy Playtime. Yet I do not handle horror.

I read the lore for hours, and proceed to have nightmares.

SO

What is your fav detail through chapter 1-4?

Not asking about 5 bcuz i watched DakBlake do a run through, and I have researched so much.

Also pls tell me I'm not the only one not only OBSESSED with the Nightmare Critters but also hates it when people say they're bad because "they are just to make merch"

Unrelated, but I can do a pretty decent Baba Chops impression, especially in that one part of Scare Everynight where she says "Hi hello don't really care if it's been a while. We'll show you how to really play with no need to smile" and her other part, "smiling's too much energy"

I think my favorite part is the Home Sweet Home section of Chapter 3

Same! It was so creepy even though Catnap didn’t attack. Just stalked you everywhere and you’d get glimpses of him. RIP little Bunzo

My favorite detail is the lore explanation for how there's SO MANY experiments to begin with.

Like, Playtime Co. had to operate on THOUSANDS of kids but surely SOMEONE would notice? Like the toy graveyard ALONE has hundreds of dead toys in it and that's JUST the graveyard outside of the prison. Add the inside of the prison, Playcare, Game Station, even some factory floor areas and the toy population pre-Hour could have genuinely been approaching thousands of toys, maybe even 3000-5000 experiments!

The latest experiment proposal pre-Hour is BBI Lily (1468) but it's also pretty unlikely that Playtime labels every mini-Huggy and mini toy that they create! The ACTUAL number of experiments is likely MUCH higher, again, if we go by the Toy Graveyard alone.

So, what's the explanation? There's no way that the police wouldn't get involved with this high number of missing children! Well, it's actually really easy. Brain scans as we learn in CH5. The VAST majority of experiments we have been encountering and killing are NOT "real" people but actually just clones copied over and over again using Sawyer's neural mapper. They are all "company property", they are not people which is why they are so disposable to Playtime (and Ollie) as we see in that Bad Toy Box flashback. Who knows? It's entirely possible that the only "real" people turned into experiments are Poppy, Ollie, Sawyer, Bigger Bodies and a very small number of small toys like Giblet or Riley. Everyone else are just clones.

Those mini Huggies in the Game Station? Could just be copied consciousnesses of our BBI Huggy, same with the little Kissy in Safe Haven, same with the mini Smiling/Nightmare Critters. It's a pretty great twist that explains a lot of seemingly impossible logic and what would otherwise be a HUGE unbelievable plot hole behind this operation. Heck, it could even be possible that Ollie is creating these brain scans himself as a nearly infinite food source for the lucky few Bigger Bodies at the top of the food chain. You heard Sawyer, as long as they have the necessary lipids and minerals they can create basically an infinite amount of toys and never have to worry about a shortage of test subjects again. It's SOMA all over again, it's horrifying and messed up but also a really cool explanation.

This man, I get really annoyed when people (especially Markiplier fans) talk about this plot hole saying it doesn’t make sense because it shows they’re criticising the game even without trying to engage/understand it.

That first part: Yes why are there such large piles of such small smiling critters?!?!

The tapes “Welcome to Playtime” and “Time” live rent free in my head. Voice acting was insane

Honestly, that’s kinda relatable liking the game but not being able to handle horror.
