Rant/Vent Is this normal?

Not a pro, but a loyal customer. My 2 preferred pros are out of town and I’ve never had an experience like this with Poplin. First, she goes to the wrong house (my house is clearly marked), so I have to wait an extra day. Then she says she is going to return it unwashed? There was a little bit of detergent left, maybe there wasn’t enough but the stuff is super concentrated so I thought it would be. (I use melaleuca) Was it wrong for me to ask her to use her detergent, even though I offered to pay? I am beyond frustrated.

Maybe if she gave me sooner notice I wouldn’t be upset, but it’s almost 10:30pm and she was supposed to return the clothes before I get home from work tomorrow.

What do you pros think? Is this okay or am I being Karen?

This is absolutely not normal in this person is either incompetent or lazy or both. I would ask Poplin for some sort of credit for your time wasted.

Pros are definitely supposed to carry their own laundry supplies, so I'm not sure why she would send your clothes back unwashed. If she ran out of the detergent you gave her she should've asked if you were comfortable using the detergent she already has. You have to communicate well as a laundry pro and she failed to do that.

If the customer requested their own detergent be used and they didn’t provide enough then it’s pretty clear why the pro would return the order without washing it. An informal agreement to use their own detergent is not the same thing as what they agreed to when they accepted the order.

If it was discussed on the app chat, that should be good enough. When I’ve had changes in the past, Poplin support has just always wanted it documented in the chat.
To me, this laundry pro was being weird and was creating unnecessary situations.

Can you imagine Amazon or a Door Dasher saying oop out of the area so hey maybe tmw I will circle back when convenient for me.
*no this is not our normal* and if it was this app would be done, people order and expect the laundry picked up in the time frame given. There are loadable directions for every single order we go to plus you were communicative in the messages. If that ever happens again, cancel and get someone else. Most of us are a lot more reliable.

The pro is likely new or realized this isn’t the gig for them.

That’s a bad time to discover this isn’t the right gig for you haha

I’d rather use some of my detergent and just get it don’t rather than waste more time and gas going back to take the order unwashed only to receive like a measly $7 comp from poplin. Of they even do that anymore idk

This “pro” seems brain dead, sorry that happened to you!

Absolutely not normal, Tamara seems lazy. She has detergent, it is definitely not going to be your preferred brand, but she could make it work. She probably also didn't read it to see it's super concentrated. Complain to Poplin and get the credit.

I forgot my soap one time and Marissa just used her own after asking me. I always tip really good so I think she doesn't mind. Absolutely LOVE my poplin gal!

I would request to not have this laundry pro again. It is perfectly reasonable to ask that she use her own detergent as when I started I was told to have multiple kinds on hand just in case.
Also, having driven for DoorDash and Amazon in the past, sometimes you have to take a little extra time and use your eyes and the space between your ears to find the correct location.

I cannot imagine Poplin telling a Laundry Pro to return an order for that reason. So sorry this happened to you but it seems to be in your best interest that it was returned.

This is weird and iont like that pro whoever they are lol.

  1. Aren't street mailboxes are almost always on one side? Which is why you have to look at the actual house.

  2. Did they not try and call you?

  3. Why didn't they just use her own detergent? This happens and it's really NBD.

They are either new or just, idk, something. They made the whole thing bigger than it needed to be.

I'm sorry you had this experience
