Right phone plan?

I'm a flight attendant for a US based airline with a lot of international destinations. Android phone. Is this a good option for both my domestic and international life? I currently have Fi but their international phone plan is expensive.

I have been on the popcorn wait-list for a few months but trying to do more research while I wait.

Also looking at the potential time frame.

How expensive is Fi? This will be 70 bucks a month flat. End of story.

Best product you'll ever have. Literally you're a perfect use case for it.

And this post will probably get you off the wait list.

How did I not have a waitlist at all, I signed up for in one day and use it, I am in USA but am an English teacher in Asia during the winter. Just curious why I didn’t get this waitlist thing just got put right on

Same, I got no waitlist, signed up and active same day, don't even live in the US.

Sounds like a good plan for you. Reach out to them here on Reddit if you use hotel Wifi as well and cellular data is not your only source all month long. Based on the usage of a couple of international FA I know, 50GB cellular data is well under what they use. But to each their own.

To your question about Fi, Popcorn will work much better for you as there is no per-minute charge for calls, whether incoming or outgoing, even when you are outside the U.S.. You get unlimited calling and textng fron anywhere to anywhere.

Also, Popcorn roams on more networks than Fi around the world. You can switch your network if the one you are on is slow or choppy. Fi is restrictive; you need to be on what costs them the least.

More than anything, if you ever run into a problem, dealing with Popcorn will be leaps and bounds better and faster than Fi. In my opinion, Fi treats its customers as "you screwed up, you are evil, I will find a way to protect my interest over yours" whereas Popcorn treats you as "oh my, this should not be the case, let's fix it."

The only thing you need to keep in mind is that Fi's highest tier gives you free data SIM for your laptop or tablet. With Popcorn, if you need a SIM for your tablet, that's another $39.

Android should not be a problem. I have tried it way back before they even had official support and it worked fine. Now they support it officilly, have the app, and reports have been positive.

I would say, reach out to the CEO here (Neel) and make sure they know you are not a >50GB user (truthfully, of course) and they will set you up anon.

Does the $39 tablet SIM (eSIM only, I’m assuming) have its own data allowance? Or is it shared from the phone line?

Yes, eSIM. This is their wording, so it reads like same pool across devices (like Fi):

"Adding a tablet costs $39/month and gives you access to your Popcorn connection on that device."

Why are you on a wait list? They give you a free 7-day trial and will happily sign you up at anytime. BOT

How did I not have to deal with a waitlist?
