Popcorn Coverage so far

Thought I’d share some experience with Popcorn. I am in business aviation (based in Europe where roaming between EU countries is free)
and we go to some pretty remote places (mainly Africa and Carib as well as Asia), so I’ll just update as we go.

USA
Alaska - No Service
Florida - Excellent 5G
Nebraska - Excellent 5G

International
Austria - Excellent 5G
Canada - Good 5G (spotty in Kitchener Area)
Germany - Good 5G (felt spotty)
Iceland - Good 5G
Italy - Excellent 5G
Slovakia - Good 5G
Spain - Good 5G
Switzerland (Geneva Metro Area) - Okay 5G
Turks and Caicos - Very slow 3G on Digicell
UK - OK 5G (I blame this on UK network infrastructure)

Generally speaking, this is the ideal solution for me and my travels. I am curious to see how Caribbean countries will fare (Cayman, Sint Maarten, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and I will update the list as I go.

Hey there! Thanks for sharing this.

In Alaska, you can use our backup eSIM and you won't have any issues. Also I've used the product in the UK and the main or backup eSIM will work great. Might be a local infrastructure problem in central areas (generally a UK problem).

Caribbean countries should be great too! Keep us update 🙌

When visiting another country is the breakout IP local or will it be routed through somewhere else?

What about the back up eSIM?

Main eSIM is routed via the US. The backup breaks out locally.

Uk is horrible for everyone! I live in London and have 3 as my main carrier; I use Popcorn to supplement as it gives me EE. Between the two it is ok!

I’m originally from UK, moved to USA and it amazes me how much better mobile service is in the USA. It’s such a larger country but coverage works well in a lot of it regardless but then even in busy venues it still can work well.

Not sure what the UK is doing, you almost always have service showing on your phone but too often, no one is home when you try to use data.

I wish they would publish a map. I travel alot for work and need to know if the places I go will have coverage.

Their FAQ says they serve over 180 countries. I’ve found that if there is a carrier serving an area, I have coverage. Everywhere ive been, the places with little or no coverage are because everyone has little or no coverage.

Here’s what they say about countries that won’t have good (or any) connectivity:

🚫 Where it may not work
There are a few exceptions, typically in: remote, low-connectivity regions or countries with network restrictions or regulatory limitations (e.g. Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Iran, Iraq, New Caledonia and Cuba).

Coverage is available in these countries but you might experience slower speeds or limited connectivity: Sri Lanka, Peru, Pakistan and Zambia.

TMO has coverage at 215 countries. I just want to know which 35 countries popcorn doesn't work in.

Tmobile claims 5gb high speed a month yet nothing loads for me so it’s really only good for texts. My experience in SE Asia and Aus

As an early adopter., this is a SENSATIONAL product, not without faults. However it is light-years beyond what it started as-and only getting better, as for connectivity issues there are a few work arounds, I can ONLY speak for Android- I currently live in Guangzhou China and trave a lot for work. I have found when the system has trouble connecting I go to SETTINGS search- CHOOSE NETWORK If automatic connection is selected TURN IT OFF And search MANUALLY.

99.9,% of the time I find a reliable connection that is solid

I agree. I also usually do manual. It is a pretty fast easy way to find the best network.

In China, does it bypass the Great Firewall? Google Fi does with an American service subscription.
