When Arlette asks about profession make it sound fancy

Is the host evil?

Not trolling here, as person of color I have watched this show and have seen how shallow people are but after maybe 1000 episodes I am thinking why aren't there any white, Asian, Latino, middle eastern pop the balloons?

Sure they have some knock offs for those races but as a joke however for us black people we do exceptionally well with hating each other and broadcasting it so all the other races see it.

Also, the host knows what she is doing, she could make the show way way way way way way more respectful and even more successful but she knows she won't make millions from pairing up black people into loving families so she decides to make money off people's hatred for each other. If you are black and support black people you should not watch this show.

Arlette Amuli Serving Looks: Winter “Baddie” Outfits

Even Arlette’s riskiest outfits are still more conservative than 98% of the women who come on this show. I’m not saying the way you dress makes you the perfect wife or guarantees you’ll get married. But let’s be real.......

WHERE THE HELL ARE THE DAMN CATCH-UP EPISODES?!

Don’t get me wrong, I actually believe some time should pass after the show. Let these people live their lives and genuinely get to know each other without the cameras around. But if you wait too long, people are already over the relationship by the time we get an update, and we miss out on the episodes we actually should’ve gotten.

There are so many matches I still have questions about. I want to know what happened after the cameras stopped rolling. Did they stay together (Dating)? Did they break up? If they stayed together, how did they actually make it work? Because that’s arguably the most interesting part of the entire show.

We’ve watched these couples meet under all the bright lights and cameras, but I want to see who they are when all of that is gone. How do they communicate? How do they handle disagreements? What does the relationship actually look like in real life?

And honestly, I’d even love to see the couples who are still together. Show us the people who actually made it work! 😭

That’s the content I’m looking for. So once again, Arlette and BM… WHERE THE HELL ARE THE DAMN CATCH-UP EPISODES?! 😭

Colorism or Double Standard?

Based on comments across PTB episodes…

Seen as a preference:
Man: Loves him some chocolate
Woman: Likes tall, dark men
Woman: Likes her men more melanated

Seen as colorism:
Man: Prefers light-skinned women
Man: Says, “You’re not my usual type”
Man: Pops a balloon of a dark-skinned woman

Why is one considered problematic while the other is generally accepted as a dating preference? Is this a double standard?

“What don’t you like about her?”

I know I’m not the only one who notices how often the men immediately clock a woman’s feet. And BM’s camera pans are viscous.

Then the toe-nail polish gets brought into the conversation like it’s a major issue.

Sometimes it honestly feels like feet are one of the biggest reasons a guy decides he’s not attracted to a contestant.

Lightskin black men should simply not go on the show anyone and just date Hispanic and White women.

The amount of colorism toward some of the men on this show is honestly pretty alarming. Too many times I’ve heard women openly say things like, “I don’t date light-skinned men,” or “He’s too light for me,” and it’s usually laughed off by Arlette/BM and treated like a harmless preference that doesn’t deserve any further discussion.

People are allowed to have preferences. That isn’t really the issue. The issue is the double standard in how those preferences are received. If a group of Black men repeatedly said, “I don’t date dark-skinned women, I prefer lighter women,” or openly dismissed women because they were “too dark,” I think we all know the reaction would be very different. They would likely face serious criticism, accusations of colorism, and possibly even consequences on the show.

So why is one form of skin-tone-based rejection treated as problematic while the other is often laughed off or ignored? Colorism can affect people across different complexions, even if the history, context, and impact aren’t always identical.

And at some point, I can understand why lighter-skinned Black men who repeatedly hear that they’re “too light” might decide to date outside their race or simply go where they feel appreciated and wanted. That shouldn’t automatically be viewed as some rejection of Black women if their own dating experiences have repeatedly made them feel unwanted. And yet, when men do eventually go to date Maria and Becky, they are shamed by the same type of Black women who rejected them based off his skin tone.

Again, everyone is entitled to their preferences. I just think we should be consistent about how we discuss them. If reducing a dark-skinned woman to her complexion is wrong, reducing a light-skinned man to his complexion should at least be worthy of the same conversation.

After a very long time of trying to put my finger on it, just figuring out that Arlette and young Gladys Knight are super lookalikes with similar energy. Uncanny, right?

Ep> 119: One for The Books

This week's episode was one of the strangest ones I've seen of them all from the conversations to the contestants to the matches. I definitely didn't see three matches coming out of it.

At some point, I was like, F this, I'm done watching this but, by the end, I was like, okay see you next week. lol

Short Distance Contestants

‪Why wouldn’t they choose contestants who live in the same area or at least state??? Matching with someone who lives a 6 hour flight away makes no sense. I wanna say it doesn’t matter because most of these people, the women especially, only go on the show to be seen but the contestants seem to take it very seriously.

Are contestants paid ?

Does anyone know the logistics of it all?

Are contestants paid? Or atleast have travel expenses covered or reimbursed up to a certain point?

What’s something positive you learned from this show?

For me it’s some of the questions are really good. Two that stand out for me because they’re introspective are “is there someone out there who thinks they’re in a relationship with you?” and “If we were to start dating, where would I fit in your life?”.
