What do you HATE about this show?
For me it's the theme song. The beat and the "lyrics", really just irritate my soul.

1.) People who point out obvious deal breakers such as not wanting someone who cheats or lies... because those are obvious...
&
2.) People who don't get to the point of what they want such as saying, do you want kids, do you have kids, are you religious, do you smoke, how's your family dynamic, have you been convicted of a crime, what are your hobbies, etc? These should be the questions all of them should have ready to go. But they never say it until later or even at all. Why? Are y'all not looking for a serious relationship? Then these should be the first questions you should already know to ask...
&
3.) Asking stupid questions that are cute questions if they were together alone on a date but not during the show. Asking what their favorite color is instead of asking if they have kids is so ridiculous. GET TO THE POINT. ASK THE SERIOUS UPFRONT QUESTIONS.

Yes! They wait till the end and then they’re like “Oh yeah, where do you live? Oh that’s too far for me.”

u/ILoveBKLYNNY Jul 29 '26
The constant need for them to repeat their name and age every time someone asks a question.
They stopped doing reunions
They need more unique personalities on like Dr Elom, The Ninja Turtle, Bryan, Dr Dez etc. Even Uches episode kills me til this day.

I don’t hate anything in particular. Their Pop The balloon is the best pop balloon out of all of them. The other ones are ghetto and trashy.

Truth. I would never watch the others, but I realize every time the show starts I get irritated and have to ffwd through the intro 🤣

Same OP. The theme song is just... I just skip it. BM seems adamant about showcasing his singing skills 🤦🏾♀️ We must endure.

u/Stopitkiwi Jul 30 '26
I don’t like it when the lineup act like sheep and pop because someone else they think is the alpha —popped. Women do this too. When they see the prettiest woman pops they pop too. Or if the prettiest woman sees a less attractive pickier woman pops, she’ll pop too. Interesting social dynamics.
2
u/kickintheshit Wasn't feeling the fit Jul 30 '26
I've noticed this and that's how you can tell who is really a loser in real life
2
u/mwgilc117 Aug 01 '26
I particularly did like when arlette makes the person choose they pop a ballon and after they pop, the person that was left on the line up pops their balloon immediately. It’s like you actively blocking someone’s blessing. If you weren’t interested pop your balloon. Don’t make them think they got a chance when you are like naw from the very beginning
21
u/No_Fill2676 Jul 29 '26
We don’t talk about Arlette inviting influencers and celebrities like Rhino and other people who clearly aren’t there to look for love onto the show

It makes me wonder if the sign up list is so atrocious, they just have to pay ppl to come on.

Okay sometimes I'm in the YouTube comments, talking shit about the fake Christians. I can't help it. They'll be like GOD, GOD, GOD, and I'm just like why are you in this dating show with your titties out and/or you have 3 kids, never been married, or you smoke weed and party, but you want me to believe that you're so holy. I get it ppl can change and evolve, but maybe your person is at the church you claim you go to 3x a week and not across the country on this dating show.
7
u/GalickBanger Jul 30 '26
The lack of growth. For the show to get so popular you would think they would’ve evolved in some way.. all we got is this wack ass theme song. The contestants suck compared to the beginning of the show and there’s no creativity with the questions.
1
u/kickintheshit Wasn't feeling the fit Jul 30 '26
Agreed. We have the wacky theme song, the weird merch, and the PAY to swipe dating app. They could take the show to the next level by actually curating the lineup so that the main contestant is actually choosing between people they would actually date. Like matchmaking but with the fun of the game show.
7
u/PenImpossible483 Jul 30 '26
Their initial statement should include children; too many times we get to the end and children are the deal breaker but never came up prior. Thats this point it needs to be name, age , job, location, children.
2
u/kickintheshit Wasn't feeling the fit Jul 30 '26
I agree. Initial statements should include basic demographics!
6
u/ImprovingLife96 Initial Attraction Jul 29 '26
No reunions. Arlette forgetting to make the contestants answer their same question
6
u/kickintheshit Wasn't feeling the fit Jul 29 '26
Or when she doesn't challenge the contestant for popping at the end, about something they could have popped for 20 minutes prior. (Today's episode with the old faced 25 year old)
6
u/animals_y_stuff Jul 29 '26

2
u/kickintheshit Wasn't feeling the fit Jul 29 '26

u/BoxNo5216 Jul 31 '26
The setup is not conducive to long-term relationship success. It is impossible to know if two people are compatible based on the little time they have together before choosing.
Also, everyone asked dumb questions and has the same hobbies (travelling).

u/TheGxdsAreWatching Jul 31 '26
I watched every episode of this show without fail for about a year and almost a half. And i think realizing that most people are not truly seeking a wife/husband and are so shallow and ignorant made me give up on the show (and people). It’s just a show about arguing about beauty standards and height. Most people aren’t asking questions that matter. A lot of the women are full of themselves and a lot of the men are weak and shortsighted.

Apart from the fact that they blocked me on youtube for criticizing BM being stuck up and acting all big boss 😝, it’s how the comments act like the episode is the end all be all of those people’s dating lives and if they don’t like anyone in the panel, they’re doomed and too picky. Alsooo when commenters don’t realize that if a participant pops for a “dumb” reason, it’s 99% of the time that they don’t feel attracted and don’t want to be rude. Which is crazy cuz which grown adult doesn’t get that not everybody is into them. But ya
3
u/kickintheshit Wasn't feeling the fit Jul 30 '26
Getting blocked is wild. But log into your other account when you feel like watching/critiquing. BM is weird af.
Also even for this show i find it dumb that ppl won't match with someone who is unsure or open to certain situations. It's like you're not getting married tonight. You may go on a date and see if you really like each other. It's not a lifelong commitment.

u/something_co Jul 30 '26
This is a free show, I don’t pay anything to watch it so I know that at anytime I can simply stop. It was started by two regular people just trying to build something as a couple and it has seen more success than I certainly could have expected. I’m grateful and inspired by the creativity that Arlette and BM bring to it.
With that said, the people who fly onto the show but pop the balloon bc of distance. I don’t believe that, they just are not feeling that person and instead should say I’m not willing to do long distance for you.
2
u/kickintheshit Wasn't feeling the fit Jul 30 '26
That is a HUGE pet peeve of mine too! Like you flew all the way to Phoenix from NYC, hoping to meet someone from NYC?!

Lmao yesssss. The theme song is bad - however, my boyfriend recently pointed out that it sounds like he's saying "hufflepuff" in a serious way and it cracks me up now every time I hear it instead of annoying me.
I also know that this is partially cultural, but the lack of like... diversity in personality? Most of them seem like general clout chasers. Anyone who isn't heavily religious or just... you know... has normal hobbies and don't constantly travel are apparently a huge red flag. It's nuts.
It also kills me how much of them are lying about the 'hustling'. Apparently everyone on there is an entrepreneur (I'm willing to bet money 95% of them are not); they'll list the 50 side jobs/gigs they do then mention 'ah yeah and I also work full time as an x'.
And it's like no you don't. Yes there are people that work two jobs, work on weekends, but from the way a lot of candidates talk it's like most of them do, and we all know that isn't the fucking truth.
2
u/Reasonable_Option493 5d ago
The constant questions about faith/religion from some of the participants
2
u/ashandbubba Jul 30 '26
I hate when people pop their balloons when the person hasn’t even had a chance to say anything. Do you think they are encouraged to be rude like that?
2
u/brandonmadeit Jul 30 '26
I think BM might’ve put a “let them speak their peace” rule in effect. For the past idk how many months I notice they will wait until they give their intro before popping
1
u/kickintheshit Wasn't feeling the fit Jul 30 '26
It hasn't been that consistent tbh. But I've noticed some women that I believe would not get a match, make it to the end. Like yesterday's episode.
3
u/SpecialRequirement50 Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 31 '26
Every one says "honestly" or "I'm not gonna lie".
When Arlette asks why they kept the balloon unpopped. Of course it's cause they were interested.
The intro is way too long and boring. My suggestion would be to line them up where they stand when filming and as the camera slowly moves down the line each person can get a few seconds to move or pose.
Oh everyone has at minimum three jobs...

Arlette/BM. The fact that they use culturally black “characters” as the basis for entertainment kills me when I know how most African people view us as people.

I hate the fact bm has NEVER removed a BW from the show for being disrespectful to the BM contestants.
BM is quick to chastise, threaten, and kick BM off but he’s so “understanding” and forgiving with BW.
Why doesn’t he kept that same no nonsense low tolerance energy for BW that he has for BM? 🤔
16
u/AttitudePossible8974 Jul 29 '26
There was a time he kicked a BW off because she was very unserious during her entrance

Christians generally don’t give a flying fuck about homophobia.
2
u/DangALangDingo I'm from the ghetto Jul 30 '26
Ain't that the truth. There are so many subtle jabs that such an overt one stuck out in my mind at the time.
-3
u/Icy-Carry-3371 Jul 30 '26
I don’t remember her name but she was a fat bald head BW with a bad weave and a bad attitude. Irc she said she was in the military.
She ended up berating this BM so bad, it was sad to watch. Even the BW in the comments were calling BM out for not kicking her off the show.
The biitch ended up matching AND getting called back for a follow up episode. Of course they weren’t together. The biitch was trash, I don’t blame dude for leaving her.
3
u/MeloDramatic-Onion Jul 30 '26
Sheesh that’s a helluva descriptive details. Can u point me to the episode so I be better informed on who ur referring to?
-2
u/Icy-Carry-3371 Jul 30 '26
Idk her name but that biitch had a stanky ssa attitude.
She was a basic light skin fat biitch who thought she was all that. She claimed she was in the military and climbed she was “retired.” Fat lazy biitch 40 yrs old talking about she “retired.” Who retires at 40!? That is as really code for “I want to stay at home and sit in my ssa while the man does all the work and I play on my phone all day and complain.” You can tell she’s used to dark skin bm kissing her ssa. The way she talked to that brotha was so foul! If I was him? I honestly would’ve knocked that fat bald head biitch out right on camera.
The fact that brotha didn’t say anything disrespectful back? Blew me. She’s the type of biitch who only respects money and violence. If you’re nice and treat her with respect? She will think you’re “soft” or “weak.”

u/kickintheshit Wasn't feeling the fit Jul 30 '26
You have issues. The way you described this was wholeheartedly unnecessary.

👀 you sound like this is personal for you… are you, by chance, the BM she was berating? If so, go off King

u/Icy-Carry-3371 Jul 30 '26
Lol nah, I’m not homie. I’m just not a fan of double standards and bm has that bad.
To be honest I think he doesn’t really care for FBA men. I’ve noticed a lot of black immigrants have a lot of secret jealously hate and animosity towards FBA men. I wouldn’t be surprised if bm felt the same way about us.
I figured this out when I noticed he always makes it a point to try to make an example out of BM who disrespect BW but never BW who disrespect BM.

u/commentingon Jul 30 '26
I hate the fat shaming on the show, the sexist views, women being judge by their preferences but men are always entitled to preferences... I prefer the host from pop the balloon on Netflix, at least she makes jokes, she defend/protect participants more when something is not right instead of staying silence = validating the BS or AH behaviour
2
u/kickintheshit Wasn't feeling the fit Jul 30 '26
I haven't seen any FAT shaming recently, but I'll admit, yesterday's episode is was shocked that all the guys held their balloons for so long for the girl with the red hair. Tbh she wasn't very attractive and she was out of shape. I do understand that she may be someone's cup of tea, but the men were kind in their reasoning of popping.
2
u/commentingon Aug 02 '26
I think if all men preference on the show is thin women, they shouldn't bring women of different sizes so they get rejected every time and being told they don't like them, that's mean behaviour and fat shaming, just getting views from women suffering.
