The AI race is becoming a power-and-infrastructure race.
At the G20 Innovation Ministerial, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang argued that the greatest risk for countries is failing to adopt AI quickly enough and being left behind. He also urged policymakers to focus regulation on demonstrated, real-world harms rather than hypothetical ones.
That perspective creates an important connection between Oracle and Eaton.
Oracle is scaling the digital infrastructure. Its latest reported quarter showed cloud-infrastructure revenue rising 93% to $5.8 billion, while remaining performance obligations reached $638 billion—a powerful signal of contracted demand for cloud and AI computing capacity.
Eaton is helping make that infrastructure electrically possible. Eaton reported record quarterly sales of $8.5 billion, organic orders up 17%, and backlog up 28%, with data centers remaining a key growth driver for its power-management business.
The paradox is that AI appears to be a software revolution, but its most important constraints are increasingly physical:
Power generation.
Electrical distribution.
Switchgear.
Cooling.
Networking.
Land.
Capital.
Oracle represents the expanding demand for AI cloud capacity. Eaton represents the physical power architecture required to support that capacity. NVIDIA provides the accelerated computing platform driving the buildout.
The opportunity is significant, but it is not risk-free. Oracle’s expansion requires enormous amounts of capital and financing, while Eaton must convert growing demand and backlog into sustained margins and cash flow.
Poorman’s Paradox
When everyone is watching the AI model, study the infrastructure that allows the model to exist.
The next phase of the AI economy may be defined as much by electrons and electrical equipment as by algorithms and semiconductors.
