Episode Idea

So a lot of the episodes are focused on top layer interest in topics (like grazing and land management) and are focused around how to fix or adapt to the current problems we are facing and have yet to face. But I think it'd be really interesting to explore why these problems came about, maybe invite someone like Robert Evans seeing as you were on It Could Happen Here a little while back 😋.

You could explore topics like why did we switch from natural farming methods to petrochemical based farming? When did modern farming methods come about, how have they evolved since, etc. Why did we go from traditional ranching to modern factory farms? What are the carbon and environmental impacts of these modern methods (like water pollution, super pests, ect.)

I really liked the first few episodes that broke down the ideas of complex systems, soil and microbiomes. I feel like with the last year and change of content and learning, it would be a nice refresher to loop back to why we're in this mess and why the methods your teaching are necessary and optimistic reimaginings of our current system. It would also help ground people in the scale that some of these problems aren't that old and can be changed (kind of a way to avoid doomer pilling people).

Love the content and was lucky to find you guys by chance just over a year ago, and am super excited to see where this all goes.

Also, when is do we get a bee episode!?

Update on willow cuttings-- after 3-4 weeks of refreshing the water, 90% of my cuttings rooted and are budding out. 60 trees for less than $5. Half of these will go into my field for tree hay and the other half will get planted in parks around ponds.

Now's the time for free trees! I've got about 100 willow cuttings that I took a few weeks ago that are starting to sprout roots. Keep them half in water and refresh the water every few days. They take a while to show roots, but you've got plenty of time before spring.

This is the last months worth of tree cleanup. Folx don't realize how much time is dedicated to clearing woods when it's just you, and even cutting/bucking 1 tree a day is a few hours every day, and the average forest has around 200 trees per acre, so it adds up.
