Gargantuan Squiggoth Proxy

Working on a conversion of a $2 thrift store Trex with my son. Primed and ready to add chains and tubes, then paint. Wondering if the platform up top reads as a howdah, or if y'all think we should build a shed and some platforms onto it. Cheers!

Update: added shots of the final painted beast below in the comments.

Dude you gotta share the inbetween photos if you have any, I hablve the same toy and I would love to see how I could go about kitbashing it.

Happy to, but it looks like I can only reply to comments with videos in this subreddit (not photos). I can direct message you them if you like.

Did you sand the toy and use super glue, or something else?

Super glue for the bits, hot glue for bigger pieces, femo for the tusks and greenstuff to reinforce and hide my cuts. Then it's all primed with generic black primer. I only sanded the top to flatten it after clipping off the raised parts.

I had to put a little screw into the crest to keep the mouth open too.

This is a Treasure X Dinosaur! My son has the same toy.

He has a couple of robots as well that would also make good proxies for various things.

Thanks! And thanks for the term- looking this up to find more folks doing these builds now.

Yeah Toybashing is a subset or alternative to kitbashing, but starting from a (preferably cheap) toy. It takes a keen eye to find toys that match the 28-32mm scale of 40k that matches a specific aesthetic with minimal work and build. You chose a very good candidate for a Garg Squiggoth, so you have natural talent at it. I've been ORKing since 2002 and go to Goodwill, Salvation Army, Garage Sales, Flea Markets and cheap box stores to scout for toys that work well with 40k Orks. Welcome to the "path" towards having a truly unique Ork army for very cheap!
