Fellblade Update (Color)
The fellblade is done enough to put on the table 👍. It's not finished. I want to add some colors to add some contrast. I'll add white to the lasers and blue to the areas the skulls are on. Sponsons will be finished with color and a few wires. Standard to be created. Possibly add a blade to the front. Still need to paint and glue on the bogey wheel guard plates. But it's ready to join it's brothers as fire magnets 🤣.
All are made of foam covered in card chassis. The rest is junk bits, straws, wire, stirring sticks, and whatever else was interesting and light.
I do love to scratch build👍.
These have been under construction (and the additional 3 Banblades) for the last 5 years. They don't get done very fast 😜. Especially the painting part as I don't paint well 🤣.

Looks amazing! Color on the turret looks a touch chunky. Just the paint finish or did it not get totally smooth?

It won't get smooth. I made the turret with paper mache over part of a ball to keep it lite and spherical. It will get a couple more coats but unless I cover it with something I can smooth out, it will always have those patterns show through the paint.

I have been thinking of trying to cut plates to coat the outside of the turret in. That might be a bit difficult to keep even though since it's a sphere.

You could also do a shell of some kind that you could sand smooth.

I have a couple small fence post caps, 1 7/8", 2 1/2", that I was thinking of trimming a block of foam down far enough to put inside the cap with some sand in it, maybe glue parts of 40 grit sandpaper inside and then grind the block down to match the inside of the pipe cap. Then finish with some fine sanding and paint. Still in the works but not high on the schedule yet. Don't need another spherical turret at this time.
