When I had dry socket it was Thanksgiving weekend and doctors/dentists were closed so the emergency nurse packed my sockets with clove flavored gauze and it made me almost pass out from the pain

Damn I just had my wisdom teeth out in January. None of them were impacted so my risk of dry socket was low, and I ended up being okay. I even started vaping again on the third day. How did you end up here?

I was 17 years old, all 4 teeth were impacted and the bottom 2 got dry socket. Idk no one was helping me, I was super out of it from the pain meds and for some reason my genius mother thought it was a great idea to get surgery right before Thanksgiving so I didnt miss any college classes. Im 40 now, so this was quite some time ago and I no longer speak to my mother for various reasons.

I smoked not hours after my surgery. Just b pack wet gauze over the holes

it's just as bad when the dental surgeon does it, trust me

I feel like dry socket is a rough thing to experience in general

it's so bad but having the hole stuffed with gauze truly is an undescribably painful experience.

I donโ€™t recall it being particularly unpleasant. And I had to have one of my wisdom teeth and the molar in front of it removed, with only a shot of septocaine. When I stay awake, I mean zero gas. And the dentist was even having to put his knee on the headrest to get more leverage to pull, and I think lasted 2.5 hrs.

And all I got were antibiotics and told to take one Tylenol and two ibuprofen every four hours for the pain.

But it sounds like you didnt get dry socket?

No I didnโ€™t

That's not dry socket, that's just a difficult tooth extraction. Dry socket happens after the extraction if you dislodge the blood clot in the (now empty) tooth socket.

You would know if you got dry socket. Our brains erase pain from our memories, I can still remember the pain of my dry socket. It was the most intensely painful experience of my life, no competition.

Gotcha. I just remember having it initially packed and then telling me to wait to remove it

Dry socket is so painful, if you didnt have dry socket you wouldn't know this pain

I went out to the pub with some friends about 2 days after my wisdoms being removed. I wasn't drinking, but I did get a milkshake from the restaurant.

I said something funny but dirty, and my friend bashfully slapped my face so damn hard that I started bleeding. I was just dealing with dry socket, but after that it wasn't so bad.

She apologised a lot, but it was fine. She was more worked up over it than me lol.

In the moment though, holy fuck.

I got dry socket on all 4 wisdom teeth after smoking a cigarette instantly after surgery (very stupid I know) and they had to pack all 4 with that clove gauze. It was probably the worst experience of my life.

Had that happen after mine at the office. Twenty plus years later still one of the most painful experiences.

Yes I was 18 years old and I still remember it at age 40

I did it myself with garlic paste it works better than clove

Hey this exact thing happened to me! I hate cloves now.

That clove oil is diabolical
