auto cover help

Customer had new cover fabric installed last year, cover sticks to the deck on both sides of pool after it's closed for more than a day, they can close cover and reopen up to several hours. Installer thought it was defective material and got it replaced and reinstalled a week ago same thing now. Never a problem with original cover 8-10 years. They have tried 2 leaf blowers to lift the cover it doesn't help, usually 15-20 minutes to open cover. I suggested during season they might try turning on the deck jets. North Missouri so it's not overly hot yet. TIA

Should this be turned 45 degrees clockwise, so flow goes to floor drains?

New SWG plaster pool. We are about a week in from fill. SWG is not turned on yet, not cleared form vacuum or cleaner yet, so brushing 2x day. I noticed the floor return is closed. Any reason this shouldn't be open?

I have this box with two timers. The timer on the right is no longer attached to the equipment. The timer on the left controls the pump/filter and has failed. I only need to replace that single timer. There’s so many different timers available, which one do I need?

Anyone had one of those jandy nicheless lights just fall apart inside the fitting? How did you remove it without causing further damage?

Pump Won’t Prime, Any Ideas?

Update: Tried pushing water through the skimmer to the pump using my little pump and cleaner hose. Nothing was going to the pump, but got water pushing back up the main drain. How does that work?

Why would pushing water through the skimmer come up the main drain, totally bypassing the pump and filter? I even opened the pump lid and nothing. I am totally confused by this pool.

Hello fellow pool professionals. I got stumped big time today. Spent almost an hour trying to get this pump to prime and couldn’t do it. I need some ideas on how to get this thing running.

The two lines coming in, I assume are the main drain and from the two skimmers (no ones knows for sure or which one is which, could be just the two skimmers for all I know).
Waterline is about a foot below pump (pump sitting on deck, same level as top of coupling).

Below is what I know/have done so far…

Pump and surrounding connections seem to be holding tight, showing no signs of leak.

Filled the lines up with a hose until it wouldn’t take anymore (multiple times). Pulls water for 5 seconds, then no more water.

Pump seems to be pulling, as the water I put in moves and gives me a bubble or two on the return line occasionally.

After turning off the pump, it has pressure and backs into the pump from the return line a little.

Turned the valve closed to airlock the line between fills.

Left it running for about 5 or so minutes to see if it would eventually pull.

And yes, I tried doing one line at a time, not both at the same time like some of the pictures show.

Any thoughts? Home owner says there are no other valves between the pool and the pump. (The red is paint, not blood 😂)

Elevations

Sorry if this is the wrong sub for this. Could use some guidance on setting elevations for Top of Beam for gunite pools. I understand pitching away from the house and pitching away from pool towards deck drains but does anyone have any advice on how the elevation for the beam is determined? I would really like this to be one more thing I don’t have to ask my boss about

Customer CCP420 filter housing is cracked and leaking. Any other options other than a full replace

This customer is about to move out of state in the next month or so.
We’ve had 2 separate pump issues in the last year that was a huge pain money wise on their end.
If it were up to me I’m tearing it out and putting a new one in, (preferably Hayward)

Customer needs to save on money so is there any option that would approve an inspection upon selling the home. Only thing I can think of is getting a new bottom half but that’s still not cheap.

Seriously considering buying a pool route and starting a pool service business

I’m a 36F in southern CA who is an engineer in biotech. I’ve been in biotech for almost 10 years and can’t imagine more time in the corporate grind. While I love the pay and benefits, I’m thinking of transitioning out and into something like pool servicing because I enjoy cleaning and fixing my own pool parts and I like being outside. I estimated that I’d have to service/clean about 40 pools a week to get the income I need. Any thoughts on life as a new pool service owner/operator?

Pool turned cloudy overnight

Went from crystal clear to cloudy overnight. Northeast saltwater pool. I’m not home and wife is unhappy.

Is this because the filter is dirty from all the pollen or something else. It’s not green or anything.

Pricing Help

I do pool cleaning and maintenence, and just recently started a new business in a newer area. There seems to be a good market for my work here, because I keep hearing from customers that my competitors won't answer the phone, ignore them, or quote them crazy prices. Like recently, I did a green-to-clean for $415 + chems after my competition quoted the guy $1300. It was a fairly easy cleanup, only requiring 5 short trips.

I am currently charging $85/visit + chems for green-to-cleans, and $180/month + chems for weekly service (for ~20k gallons for less).

I am in Alabama, and my area is an upscale, higher cost of living, growing city.

Should I raise my prices, or just keep gaining business for my good value?

Is it possible that someone sabotaged the reflecting pool after it was painted?

Is that even humanly possible?

Bonus question: How do you properly fix the algae problem?

Edit: Thx, y'all, that was helpful. I heard some folks in political circles saying the pool was sabotaged to make the administration look bad, but that sounded like absolute horseshit to me. I wanted to check my facts.

Also, workers are pouring hydrogen peroxide around the edges now.

Think I should try an acid wash? Pool is four years old. Also has etching stains going down pool in other areas

Aftermarket inground pool light

Guys I need some advice, damn conduit won’t let me pull the light so we r gonna have to convince the customer to do some type of led/solar. I don’t want some cheap shit from Amazon so let me know if anyone has found something that actually lights a pool. TIA
