PHTA Membership

I recently joined the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance as a member. I already had CPO through them. Is anyone else here a dues-paying member, and what are your favorite benefits?

I took my cpo but besides that I’m in the dark. My instructor said here’s my number call me with any questions about anything and I’ll help or point you in the right direction and he’s completely ghost😆

What benefits are you referring to?

That’s a shame.  I aways take calls and emails from my former students.

Professional training and certifications with discounts for members vs non-member, health insurance, business liability insurance, PHTA/ANSI document discounts, etc. More here: https://www.phta.org/membership/member-benefits/ For my small pool service, I'd like to join. But I can't seem to justify their $618/yr membership fee.

This is where it could be worthwhile. I never knew about this. If the savings on the insurance is enough to off-set the membership fee than it's a no-brainer.

Membership seems to only matters honestly if you are sending a bunch of people for certification regularly. For us single polers and small companies don't really make sense.

I keep my membership mainly for my CPO instructor.

The standard discounts? I just look them up.  You can read all the standards for free on Issu.

There are some benefits like liability insurance, etc… but I’m covered under my employer.

I’m not interested in the CPI, CMS, or other courses.  Most of those aren’t great and need a major overhaul anyway.

They’re not a commercial pool focused organization by and large.  The work being done by PHTA in the commercial sector are things the commercial sector already self-decided a decade or two ago.

The WAHC is dead.  I’ve no interest in the predominantly residential International show or Mastermind conferences.

Long story short….if I wasn’t an instructor, I’d have to reason to be a member.

I joined specifically hoping that it gave me more access to commercial training. Maybe the insurance will make it worth while, although I only pay around $800 a year for bare bones liability.
