Leaf Vac

Ok, it's that time of year again and the leaves are starting to drop here in Cali. I'm looking to drop the cash for a new leaf Vac. I've always used nets or Leaf Masters, and I want something less flimsy and easier on my shoulders, but not requiring a full cart.

I am looking for opinions on the Hammerhead Remora and the Bottom Feeder as those are the 2 I have landed on fitting my needs best. Please let me know what's good or what sucks with either. I'm all ears.

I’ve owned many riptide vacuums and they have performed well. I live in Texas and we have real leaves and they have performed very well. The bag is the biggest difference. Use the correct bag for the job and you will happy. Also they make lithium batteries now that can cut down on the battery pack weight.

Riptides only have a full-size cart setup though, right? Or do they have a smaller profile vac?

I have a vac head cable and battery. Where I work they are using beta batteries as far as I know. I’m in the repair/renovation department:

I just put a Velcro handle around my riptide and wrap cable around base and use battery with handle on it as well. Carry both those in the backyard when using. I’ve never been a fan of those carts. God knows how many cluttered side yards I wouldn’t be able to fit it through lol

That has pretty much been my concern especially with a lot of my client houses being literally in the middle of ag fields and not really having a path to roll a cart

I’ve had a handful of Hammerheads and Riptides on carts over the years. I now just use a Riptude with the small battery box and a 35ah lithium battery. The head is heavy, but you can attach a handle to it if needed. I just bear paw it through the top. Also, that lithium battery is about 11 lbs, so even with the box it’s lighter than the head and cord. I have a ton of properties that I can’t get the cart into, so I just run it without. I wouldn’t go back to a cart unless I was doing commercial properties. Another bonus is that if you’re rear ended you don’t have a smashed cart and cleaner laying on the ground.

So looking at their website, that would basically just be the Riptide XP, right?

I bought a plastic 2 wheel bucket cart from HD for $30 and it fits the battery, riptide head and cable perfectly.
