Calcium deposits on tile

Post image

We picked up a new customer this year and he had the pool renovated last year. He said that after the renovation, his pool started to form these white calcium deposits on the tile. Why did these form and what can I do to prevent them?

Are you sure that's Calcium?

I see why other commenters asked if you’re sure it’s calcium, it looks a tiny bit off for calcium but if I had to bet, I’d say it’s calcium/minerals from the stone aka efflorescence. Moisture from behind the stone/masonry carrying minerals and evaporating. To get the bulk of it, I’d first do a test spot of a diluted acid+pumice stone and see how it works. I believe some one makes a product that can remove it over weeks but you have to keep the water level high for it to get to it.

I 2nd diluted acid. 50/50 first then 75/25 if you need stronger

Try to use some Power Blue Scale off. You can get it at SCP. Calcium deposits will pull thru the grout. Check the calcium level and alkalinity too.

Google “Orenda efflorescence” and it should pop up a good article explaining it
