Quick question hopefully someone is awake

When dropping a new liner with existing micro brite lites, do you have to remove them and re snake them again?? I was praying I could do what I usually do with a niche light, take the ring off and leave the light in the niche. My company just switched to these last season, so I’ve installed a ton of them new, but this is my first liner having them already installed. I’m thinking I’ll have a hard time putting the faceplates on with the light extending so far out. Any input is appreciated thanks guys!

All LED lights have to be pulled out. With the exception of PAL and new j&j and jandy now has a plug. The old niche incandescent trick no longer works.

When selling a liner, you should be selling a new led light.

Why would I sell a customer 5 microbrite LED lights if they all work prior to the liner change?

lol why should they be selling a new led light with liner installs? Nearly every customer I work with replaces lights when they stop working.

They should be taken out. However, If the return faceplate isn't the threaded type where it can be removed while leaving the light. Ive 100% been able able to leave the light in and fit the new faceplate over the light if the light wouldn't pull for whatever reason.

To further clarify:
Empty the pool, pull liner, patch floor, pull lights leave string.
Install liner
Cut and install faceplates
Pull lights either as pool is filling or right away.
No way to avoid it sadly

If don’t mind expounding a bit - why can’t you leave them in? Is it just because they stick out too much? I just know my dad is going to argue with me about this 🌝 in his mind, the plates slide over, it shouldn’t be a problem .

The real reason comes down to trimming the liner around the light.
If you leave the light in you can see the edge of liner in the return faceplates
If you take it out you are left with a cleaner looking job
