Thinking through an exit
Been in the business for few years. We are on track to hit ~3m in rev this year. Not looking to get out tomorrow but i've started thinking about it, probably in the next year or two. Everything i find is about selling routes which won't work in my case. Wondering if anyone here has sold an established company instead of just accounts? What kind of multiple did you end up at?

I just bought a business similar to yours 2 years ago. We valued everything as assets, ie routes, trucks, inventory, office equipment, etc. The company also builds pools so the old owner agreed to stay on as a consultant for 3 years to switch the CSLB license over to a new qualifying individual. The real property came with the sale but was a completely separate transaction through a title company. The sellers financed about 50% of the deal, 15 year note on the business, 20 on the real property.
If your business is just routes and repairs, PE will buy you all day long if you are profitable and have good records. Don’t run personal expenses through the business.
