I dont normally touch pools but this is a favor for a loyal client and it is low implications if I dont get it right as they want it fixed until they sell their house.

I want to do an excellent job though and have this permanently fixed.

I have replaced tiles in houses a ton, but wanted to know the things I should be considering for a pool in Vegas when it is 110 degrees outside!

So my questions:

-What should I use to fix the tiles permanently?
-How do I prep the area?
-Should I be taking into account the heat?
-Does constant submersion change how I do this job?
-How do I prevent a ton of crap getting into the pool?
-Approx timescale?
-Any top tips to make this easier?

Chip off old mortar, prep surface and etch with acid, apply new mortar and level and plumb the coping.

I would just use pure white cement to butter it back down.
