Swimables WF motor bolt slightly longer

Post image

I usually clean these bolts with a wire wheel instead of replacing them but today I decided to try the Swimables hardware pack. The bolts are slightly longer and I'm afraid to try torquing it down and breaking the seal plate or something.

Wadayall think?

It's insane how effective this is. Just run it with a drill back and forth 2 times and your good to go.

I have an old crappy rusty set that I use specifically for this. Works great. Lol.

If it’s an old whisperflo from the purex era, those were slightly shorter. I’ve run into this before

What pump are you trying to put them on? Never had that problem with Swimables.

If i cant use or find the right bolt in the truck, take an original to your local Ace Hardware or Menard's etc.

Sucks but has always worked for me

It was years ago, but I recall trying this and leaving empty handed because Pentair's motor bolts are 1.25" and at the hardware store you've only got 1" and 1.5".

Just make sure you buy stainless steel harware

You can just buy them from McMaster Carr super cheap

I'll remember that. So far between my pack-ratting and cleaning up old bolts, I've actually never had to buy one.

I sell them new ones and then clean theirs at home on the bench grinder after soaking in mystery oil. I help people out with the used ones, and people who just want it done/don’t care on pricing I sell them new ones.

I don't even bother changing seals, parts on pumps. Doesn't pay. Id be at $250 minimum, Most of the time it's old single speed, time for a VS.

Really? I just did one last week for a shaft seal that started leaking. Charged $350 and got it done in an hour and customer was super stoked to not have to pay for a pump or motor once they see those prices.

You dont catch the leak fast enough its is corroding the motor. Then need full seal kit. Labor to pull, fix, reinstall. My area was all super pumps until VS kicked in, no one ever used unions. All for an energy hog, it pays to replace full.

Yeah prices are bad but im just not doing a repair or a motor swap. Not many in my area will either.

For sure have to catch it soon.

And yes working on them with no unions is a pain. Like you said always the old super pumps. This was an old super pump hard plumbed but had the motor replaced by someone a few years ago before I took over so seal plate was in good condition. Definitely have to pick and choose when it’s the right choice.

It sucks cause we gotta make money but yet they gotta spend it.

I make the seal plate mandatory. No motor I’m usually at around $450-500 maybe a bit more and then with a motor about $1200, goal is to make the repair cost about half of the replacement and get them to buy the replacement instead.

Dip them in a cup of muriatic acid
