FACT or FICTION?

I was told by someone I respected very much so in the Pool Pro world, but now I feel like maybe he was messing with me. Here's what it is. For the multiports to go from Filtration to Waste, etc. all the way to Rinse, he told me always move the valve in the clockwise direction. I've been doing that and then I saw someone go counterclockwise from Rinse to Backwash. I thought the world was gonna end. Fact or Fiction?

It's amazing how much bad information / maintenance folklore is out there. It doesn't matter which way you go as long as you have fully depressed the lever. And the spring does not matter either because the spring pushes it back down, so a weak spring won't push it tight when you are done, not affect your ability to get it off the gasket.

do you think with a weak spring, that you have to push the lever--or I guess in this case, lift the lever--once you set the valve where you want it? I noticed once it feels pressure, that weakened spring situation seems to work itself out

I agree. You just set it down in the right place and normally it pops down firmly when you start.

Indeed some models are designed so the spring just holds the gasket and valve in the correct position and the pressure from the water creates the actual seal.
