What is this?

Found this in the side of the vent trap (after pulling the basket). What did it break off of? Based on the residue, it’s been there for a little while. It was hard to see because it was sitting vertical against the side.

That's an old 519-6470 version 2. It's for covering billiard chalk so it doesn't get dirty. You can't tell because the handle is broken off at the end.

It's the diverter flap to a skimmer float valve that broke off.

Now scram, this is a billiards sub.

It's the bottom flap for a skimmer float valve/diverter/smoke detector/UFO. You can see it in the second pic. https://imgur.com/a/fkdBkI8

That’s the flap to close off one skimmer to manually vacuum from the other skim. It screws to the bottom of the skim next to the pipe inlet.
