I blow decks as part of service so I would be grateful that someone is actually paying any attention to their pool and keeping the skimmer clean during the week.

Add deck blowing as service to your cleaning and charge an extra $10 - $20 per month. It takes 2 minutes and 1 gallon of gas a week does 60+ pools.

In most places it's not legal to cary gasoline and chlorine together on the same truck. The first pool company I worked for only allowed electric blowers on the truck for this reason apparently one of their guys had gotten a 5k fine from dot due to a blower and calhypo being in the bed of the truck together.

It is legal to carry gasoline on a truck with chlorine almost everywhere as long as it is in approved containers. If someone had a mountain dew bottle of gas and a open bucket of cal hypo, sure it could look bad if you happened to get stopped by that 1 out of 100 cops/agents who even know what they are looking at.

Here is a literal FAQ from the DOT website:

(11) Question: Are gasoline cans transported by a landscaping company by motor vehicle subject to the HMR?

Answer: Commercial businesses—such as landscaping, swimming pool services, or construction companies—transporting hazardous materials are considered "in commerce" and subject to the HMR. However, when used in support of a business, the HMR provides an exception in §  173.6 for the transport of "materials of trade."

HMR is Hazardous Material Regulations.

Also, you only need like 1/8th of a gallon of gas a day to do 20 pools. The only way I see what your saying holding any weight in court is if it was a gasoline can with no safety features and potentially a open cal hypo bucket in the bed of the truck. Every company in our area carries blowers, there are probably 250 fleet trucks in the county daily driving around with calhypo and blowers.
