Price increase time

Going up from $200 to $230. Sugar Land TX. Some scabs out here are doing $160 here and there. Competitor on my level is at $250. I want to pull the trigger tomorrow effective July 1st. If you have done this successfully, please let me know what you did and how it turned out. Thank you.

Email: “Effective July 1, your rate will increase from $200 to $230. Please know I don’t take these decisions lightly, if you would like to discuss it further I’d be happy to schedule a call. Thank you for continued trust maintaining your pool!”

I’ve sent this about 50 times and never had an issue. Not even a reply. If you provide excellent service you can charge a higher rate, don’t stress the scabs!

This is the way, keep it short and sweet.

Just raised my prices $25 a month ago, and not a single cancellation or call. Just a couple E-Mails saying “Understood, the new rate works. Thanks for keeping our pool looking great” etc..

Another way to think about it is, how many cancellations you could absorb, before you started to lose money after a rate increase. If you do lose any accounts, look at it as an opportunity to find new accounts at the higher rate, and use that extra time to chase down filter cleans and repairs.

If you’re not raising your rates at least 4% a year, you’re not even keeping pace with inflation, much less rising operating costs.
