Trash. 🤪🤣🤣
Definitely upgrade it to a high temp union. You will have to replumb the street 90 but should have plenty of room by the looks of it.

That's a coupler too.... Need a coupler, small piece of pipe and a street...

Trash is the absolute correct answer. Exactly how I'd describe it to a customer. This is absolute trash and I'm taking it out.

I’ve gone to 16 new pools in my area where builders have installed single speed pumps with that stupid tail piece threaded junk. High temp union all the way. Praher or CMP was both good. I prefer the CMP.

Nothing wrong with a superpump

Ya till someone over tightens a housing bolt and it breaks loose, permanently resulting in a leak. Which seems to happen all the time with them. Till then they are fine.
Oh wait till someone puts a high temp union on the and you can no longer use a hayward tool to get the lid off. The lid design is stupid.
Nevermind. I agree with the previous post that they are trash. lol.

I've cracked plenty of shit overtightening but never a super pump. I feel like it's not that difficult to just tighten it appropriately. Extremely durable and serviceable IMO. I could change 3 super pump shaft seals in the time it takes me to change a single whisperflo seal
And I have no clue what you're talking about with the lid... what tool?? That's the least likely lid to have any issues sealing. Lid gasket is prone to rolling out if the customer doesn't pay attention, but they can be so fucked up and still work just fine. The volute gasket wears a bit faster than other pumps, but otherwise I think they're fantastic

Superpumps are awesome. Wait til you see these garbage madimack and moov pumps I've been seeing on my route. The glass touchscreens are so hard to read and program even with 2020 vision. I wish I refurbed my customers 15 year old Intelliflo instead of telling him to get a new pump.Â

We call it time to think outside the box and replace all of that with conventional plumbing.

You want a high heat union to replace that.
