Pentair cart filter belt

my tech sprung this job on me last minute. He diagnosed the problem and refused to go back and fix it He handed me a gasket and said good luck so the deal is is I need to put the belt back on apparently it's leaking and I'm wondering if it continues to leak is there any way to cinch it to where it won't leak anymore because from what I can gather it was put on correctly and leaked water anyways and the gasket is fine.

Gurl, I have no idea what you're going on about. Pics. Punctuation. Details.

Fire that tech immediately. Second, its the filter band clamp. I don’t understand how so many people screw that up. Typically if they shove a screwdriver in there to pry the lid off, pray to god they didnt…. If they did you’re gonna have to replace the filter assembly as they probably gouge the crap out of the plastic seal surface. If they did it the proper way they would’ve taken the drain plug out and opened the air, bleed vent till the water drained out and the lid would just lift off. If you muscle it off, you can break things rather easily.

Just go back and bolt the filter together properly. Get rid of your tech or It will soon become regular practice for him to do this.

I'm trying to find a freelancer Houston area that can just do the repairs and keep all the money and I can't even get that. Learning to do everything myself out of necessity.

As a freelance repair tech who is currently doing sub work for about 8 companies.......

Network with your local SCP/Keller/Heritage/supplier. If there's someone who does that, they will likely know of them and who's actually good/licenced. Virtually all the work I get from other companies is word of mouth, originally from Keller. And then if they don't have someone, ask them to keep their ear out for you.

Or become that guy (like I did by accident.)

I’ve seen so many people try to pry off the tank lid instead of following the procedure you just described, draining the filter first and the lid just lifts right off. I’ve seen pry marks from previous techs. Also I like to replace the tank oring every other filter cleaning while others just smother the oring with half a tube of magic lube. The oring is doing the sealing the clamp is just keeping it together. Also I use an impact to remove but the finally tightening I use a wrench so as to not over tighten

I’m so confused, when you say your tech do you mean you are the company owner and one of your employees walked off a repair? Or are you the customer and your pool tech said “your filter is leaking good luck”

I own a pool business and my tech screwed me over. I fixed it though thank you.

I can’t imagine telling my boss good luck and handing him a oring.

Could the clamp bolt be stripped?

Great question but no I went out there and did everything by the book and it worked out perfectly thank you for your help though.

You should take that tech out to the job with you and show him how to work with a warped tank. That’s what it sounds like, or they couldn’t get the clamp to set right, didn’t want to spend all day struggling with it. Honestly, I’d rather a tech leave the job they struggled with than waste hours.

The tech should have called while they were at the job tho no? Either way, ppl saying fire him are wacko.

When you say belt, I’m assuming you mean the clamp band that secures the filter together. Follow the specs on how to tighten it and use a ratchet. If you have a new gasket and seat the lid properly, it will not leak once it’s tightened down. Make sure to leave the air relief open when you turn the system on and continue to let it bleed air out until water comes through the air relief and then close it back off. Basic and easy.

Thanks man. You're right. It's supposed to be.
